o-4 Imp transaxel

What's the trick to getting the filler cap off the top of the 0-4 trans to fill the oil? Seems the slave cylinder mounting bracket is over it. There are 2 pillow blocks one in the front and one in the rear of the 0-4...are there suppost to be zirk fittings in both? Mine has a fitting on the rear, but no threaded hole for the front...is this bad???

The rear trans and differential share the same oil. Just fill through the filler plug on the top of the tranny. Allow time for the oil to run through to the rear end. Mine holds 8 quarts. Fill to the level of the plug on the side of the tranny.

I concur, the 2 pillow blocks on my shift tube do not have zirks. I just put a small dab of grease in front and back on tube and cycle it a couple times then wipe off exess. The filler on top of transaxle should open, I use a short mexican speed wrench. Do not over tighten either of the plugs. The small plug on the side should have an arrow and oil level cast in the housing. :brows:

There are two plugs on top. One is under the slave cyl. brkt. and the other one is right there on top in the front.
