November 11th. Rememberance day

Every year, people in canada come together on the 11th month and the 11th hour of the day to remember those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. And every year, people wear red poppies pinned to their shirt/jacket to signify their remembrance of those who gave their lives. If you don't know the signifigance of the red poppy, do some research.

Well, it appears some yuppie university students are trying to change the signifigance of the red poppy and replace it with a white one to be more "politically correct". Talk about a slap in the face of all those who made the ultimate sacrifice......

Well, the general public consensus up here is to walk up to anyone wearing a white poppy and slap them upside the head to knock some sense into them.

Today is November 11th. The day of remembrance in Canada. At 11am, people all over Canada gather to take a moment of silence for all those who gave their lives for out country. I'll be wearing my red poppy today.

Not all.

I'm arguing with a few Canadians who believe such "nationalism" is unhealthy. Sad cases of incurable anal macrocephaly in my opinion.

Today isn't about national pride. It is about thanks.

We had our Rememberance day ceremony at church this morning. Very moving service that started with the sound of a trumpet playing along with the regular organ in the front. As soon as they were finished, bagpipes sounded from the rear of the church. We also had a bunch of WWI veterans included into this mornings service. Following the reading of "Flander's fields", we had a presentation of poppies. All of the veterans were lined up at the front of the church and everyone in the church presented a poppy at the front then shook the hand of every veteran standing there. One of the veterans also shared his stories from WWI. Very emotional service this morning.
