No spark

I have a 266XP Husqvarna chainsaw which was running fine when I put it away for the season. I forgot to run the gasoline out of it, and ended up rebuilding the carb and cleaning the lines, etc. Like I said it was running fine when I put it up, but after rebuilding the fuel system, (or even before?) it has no spark. What could have happened while it was stored to cause this? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Check to see if the wire running from the ignition coil to the on/off switch hasn't been shorted to ground ,or that the switch its self isn't grounding out the coil in the on position . Could be a dud plug, but I'm sure that you've eliminated that. Possibly a bad coil assy. ,but they usually don't go bad just sitting there.

remove the flywheel check for rust in the magnito that would be where i would look first if all wiring is good you can also remove yje wire on the switch and tape it to verify the switch isn't the problem

Have you done the fail safe spark test with a philips screwdriver stuck in the plug wire and your friend holding it? :whistling:It is often hard to get a good ground with a spark plug.

I just had the carb rebuilt and the fuel line replaced in my266XP. They also cleaned the impacted dust from around the back of the switch because it was reducing the amount of juice delivered. Might try cleaning there and as another suggested, check the flywheeel for rust.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I've checked for spark (not with a friend tho, don't want to lose the few I have) and checked the flywheel, it's nice and shiney. Is there a way to test the ign. system using a multimeter? Coils, and ign. modules are an expensive guess. Like I said at first, this thing was running fine when I put it up for the season. I did disconnect the wire to the switch, it made no difference tho. Thanks

Go to www.arboristsite.com .post your problem on the chainsaw sub forum .it's in the equipment forum about 3/4 down the home page . If they can't help you ,I'll give you a buck for it .:w00t2:
Hope you get it running it's a nice saw . There's a wire that runs out of the coil to a ground screw on the coil. Check the terminal for corrosion and that it is tight .
