No more skidoo

Looking for a good ski doo replacement like an IMP or something of the sort. What I want to know is, what should I look at getting? I like up in Fort Good Hope, NWT Canada just below the arctic circle, I use a skidoo for fire wood hauling, accessing camps and hunting. I'm looking for something that would be able to cross creeks with over flow, climb hills and transport 2 people in comfort.

Any help would be appreciated.

i've replaced mu snow machine with a snow trac last winter i made a 100 mile round trip with with it hauling 3800 pounds of gasoline to pilgram hotsprings the whole trip took about 10 hours and used less than 20 gallons of gas can't do that with any thing else an elan or bravo might have mae the trip on the same gas but wouldn't be able to haul that kind of weight. news flash avoid overflow with all snow cat's the steel grousers freeze instantly when hit with water and corn snow will swallow a snow cat jusl like an airplane even the bv 206's with an all rubber track don't fair well in over flow i have put moore than 1 track back on after a run up the youkon back in the national gaurd days.good luck hope this helps.

The only way I will cross creeks with overflow is to push snow and build a bridge above the overflow level. Most creeks I cross are good all year once I build the initial snow bridge but sometimes we get a rain in January that floods the creeks and I have to push more snow to patch things up.
My personal choice for your situation is a Thiokol Spryte with the automatic transmission. They are easy to drive ,lots of power and can haul and tow like a one ton truck. I'm not saying the other brands or models are good, just stating my preference.

The Imp is fine in cold weather, but overflow is a different story in subzero temps as discribed above.

Thanks a bunch people, really nice to hear from everyone. What about a Muskeg? They look like work horses but are slow.

the muskegs arnt really a snow cat more an allterrain vehicle kind of like a baby nodwell and built just as tough no snow cat is going to keep up with snowmachinse get used to 10 mph at leaste you are out of the weather and warm with a seat back

So maybe an IMP would be a good choice? Not looking at logging 10 cords and pulling it back home.

Does anyone have any good IMP stories or links within this forum?
