newbie-track removal

Hey Guys, I'm new at this Bombi stuff. Just acquired a mid-sixties SW48 in nice shape. This may be a silly question for you experienced guys, but I would like to know how to remove the tracks on a one-piece track.

I have removed the grease fittings on the adjusters, jacked it up, and cut the bottom bolts to the rear bogies that are around the square stock at the rear of the machine. Nothing seems to want to move. Would it help to remove the middle bogies and give it enough slack to take the track off? I have to change the front sprocket wheels because someone left the tracks lose and chewed them up.

I can't seem to find any information on track removal. Maybe I'm missing something simple.....? Thanks for any and all advice!

Mike

don'tknow about tthe sw machines but on the bv 206's they slide off tightly when used but i have found the new ones usualy need the rear road wheels removed to massage the track back on.

After you removed the grease fittings on the adjusters did you compress the grease ram?
Is there a manual adjuster on the end if the grease ram? (threaded rod w/jam nut?

Not quite sure how to compress the grease ram....there is a 3/4 inch bolt on the end of it that I loosened....not sure what you mean by "manual adjuster".....

Do those rear bolt clamps need to be loosened on the square stock to the rear? Was that right to do?

Thanks for your reply!

On the Bombardiers I own (not Bombis), the two front bogey wheels are mounted on a separate frame which moves forward as you push in the grease into the adjusters. When you remove the zerks, the whole frame can move backward providing slack in the track. The threaded manual adjusters also give additional movement room.

To my knowledge, it does not require loosening the rear bogeys, but I'm a newbie at this too.
