Hello everyone nice to join another group of nuts that like to have fun.I took my Thiokol imp 1404wt out for the first time yesterday. What fun that was.Everything worked properly I believe. We went out came back didnt break anything.Success!!!. Its a 1978 model that seats 6 the four in the back had better be good friends. can someone tell me the RPM range the V4 works best in? What is red line? Also the main 3 speed gearbox has synchromesh and was easy to shift. The 4 speed transaxle wouldnt shift at all without grinding in any gear. I never forced it in.I just put it in one gear and used the 3 speed box. We were in snow that was heavy and about 3 feet deep. This thing was a kick in the pants to drive. It will probably go places i dont want to go. As soon as I can get pictures off my phone Ill post them. Thanks to the ones who started the forum. Rick

Welcome,

I think red line is 5500 rpm. I operate mine around 2k and not any higher than 3k.
The rear transaxle is not synchromeshed, you must pick a gear then start out in that gear.

Please remember lots of pics get more information

Hi Rick welcome to the Forums.

Glad to hear your first outing was a success. I'm a Snow Trac guy so I don't know much about the Thiokol machine you have, I'll let others answer your specific questions. Glad to have you here!

Oh, and don't forget the photos.:hammer:
