Hi all...first post.

1966 j5...and of course I have questions.
First..either the axle or hub is broken on the "passengers" side.
I haven't retrieved it out of the woods....it's truly an "as is" sale!
The previous owner thinks he may have over tightened the tracks after he did some wheel work on it.
I've done quite a few searches....but haven't found an issue similar.

I am also curious if anyone has ever "lengthened" a j5 one more bogie?
I really like the rear deck area on the muskeg and would like the same length....but keeping the 16" track width.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks...
Leslie.

Over tightening the track would cause a lot of stress on the axles. There's quite a few articles about reinforcement of the axles. Please post pics and here's my two babies.

Finally out of the willy wags!
As you can hopefully see the drive sprocket has come apart....no its not the axle.
Is this two piece? Can it be welded?
Any help would be great.
Cdog.

buy the polyethylene (I think) sprockets from Minnesota outdoors. They are durable, light and cheap.

My bad i was confused. Here is the document that shows the assembly. Minnesota outdoors has allot of parts and i believe the piece you says is broken is cast.
