New Muskeg Big Problem

I bough an old muskeg about a month ago it's pretty beat up and well used but it runs really good and I got it for cheap. The big problem is that the front outer drive bearing is gone. My question is that is there anybody that has breakdown picture of that front sprocket assembly? Thanks

I have pics but I don't know how to upload them???

Here's a page from the service manual (1988). Old models before the final drives were added may be different. You'll need to pull the track and remove the side rail to get at the bearing. You may also find that the oil seal sleeve (14) is worn, split, or like mine had spun on the shaft. I had the shaft turned and sleeved and a new seat cut for the seal sleeve. There's a fair bit of heavy lifting involved.

I'd recommend getting the service and parts manuals from Prinoth or Boggie. They are worth the money if you do any work on the machine.

thanks for posting that chip........ we pull them without taking the rail off. just take the four bolts holding #31 and rotate it up and it will just clear the rail.
the bad news is you have to pull the tracks. most people do not grease the outer bearings enough. important in water conditions good luck parts are all available

Thanks Chip and Boggie that's just what I thought the end of my #(13) is sheared right off and only the outer race of the bearing is left. Looks like it's going to be good project!!!

I'll try to post some pics, my little guy just loves it

Well, looks like you've got a year or two to fix 'er up before your young'un outgrows his favorite toy! Its great to see someone enjoying their Muskeg that much! Good luck with it.

Thanks Chip, I,m not going to rush in on this project my plan is to take it slow and have a good reliable machine in the end that we can enjoy:smile:
