Neighbor kid may spend 24 years in jail...

This is what happens when you are not a parent but rather just let you kid run wild.

Our next door neighbor's family is a total mess. There are 3 generations living next door, plus a few strays that moved in too. Some are involved in drugs. The neighbor boy was one of my wife's students. He was not the brightest kid in class, but he was always nice to my wife, even if he didn't do all his homework. I've never had any problems with the boy, or any of the neighbors either. But the boy was recently expelled from school for selling drugs on the bus. He just turned 18 and is now legally a "man" so what does he do . . . he was busted for doing a drive-by shooting in town!!! This is a small rural farm town and we have just had a 'drive-by' shooting!?!

This kid has been in trouble many times, now it looks like he really screwed up. I have no sympathy for him or his family but it really pisses me off that parents won't actually act like role models.

If you have kids, be a parent. A real parent :hammer:

LOWELL | A Lowell man was charged over the weekend in connection with a drive-by shooting Wednesday.

If convicted of three counts of criminal recklessness, Benjamin Ramirez, 18, faces a maximum term of 24 years in prison.

Don't understand the kids today at all as they have so much going for them but refuse to use it.

They are a product of their environment. Momma's got to quit wiping their ass a little earlier and spanking it instead.

One son, grown and raising a family with a college degree and a black belt instructor. A supervisor for Insight Technologies making really cool toys for the military. I don't mind sayingmy wife and I did it right. If I sound like I am bragging, I am. I know you guys & gals will understand. :thumb:

Hell TR if you only had one that was easy as you never had to deal with sibling rivalry or such nonsense. :yum: Man I had four and that explains the average American family with the 2.4 kids on average. I had two whole ones and two .2 classed. I figure 50% might still be a good average with no instruction manual that I ever saw.

Sorry, but I believe a nice protected environment like a prison might be a good idea for this dude. When you play with guns someone is likely to get hurt.
As for the parents, well, there is, unfortunately, no way to have them do the sentence too.

We wanted more, but was not in the cards. He was always a level headed kid who worked hard for what he wanted. In retrospect he did make it easy on us. Congrats on four!! You had your hands full, but I bet you wouldn't trade it for anything.

Agreed. The kid screwed up. In fact he screwed up quite a few times. Now that he's 18 there is now way he is going to 'coast' through on this without ending up in jail.

Sadly there are too many kids like my neighbor and too many parents who are not 'parenting' their kids. Not sure how to deal with this problem, let alone solve it.

If he is 18 and doing driveby shootings,,,,prison ain't gonna help him.

But then taking him off the plyaing field for a while ought to save a life or two. No matter how mean he comes out, life will be safer for his neighbors.
If comes out bad, he will just go back in.

Parents are somewhat to blame, but life is a series of choices. He made bad ones
