Hello, I am new to the forum and see a awesome amount of great info on this forum. I just bought a 85 1344 tucker but it needs some work. Looks like it was abused. The rear turn table has a broken mount for the rear of the spring. They put a bigger spring on it to compinsate for the sag.lol Anyways I'm looking for a rear turn table and also a spring.Any leeds would be great. I will be using the Tucker to get to my property in Donner summit area CA. Want to start fixing it up for next season.
Thank you in advance.

You can try Bill at Snotrans in ID or Tracks Inc in MN. If you don't have any luck you might have a local shop fix the plate as I think it's just 1/2" A-36 steel. For springs, try a trailer parts dealer. Just some thoughts...

Welcome to the forum!

What year is the white Tucker?
.

Thank you for the info. I called and he is looking around for me.
The white tucker, not sure 50 something?????its a buddy of mines they have a few of them.

So i have located a turn table from a 77 1544 but its the front. That year I guess had the shoes or guides on the front and mine is on the rear like most I have sean. Mine has the front with it open to rock side to side or trunion on the front and I guess in 77 had it on the rear. Im almost positive it will work but am open to someone who has more knowlege what they think.
Thank you

I had a 1975 1544 which I ended up TOTALLY restoring,so congrats on what looks to be a great machine! My turntables were actually cast aluminum, which I was told was an attempt to reduce weght. I would be glad to offer any help I can. I would still have that cat if it had a blade.

I would think most any welding shop that does good work could repair your existing turntable and fabricate a new rear spring mount. I haven't seen the damage, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could make the repairs without removing the turntable.

Also a local spring shop should be able to make you a new rear spring pack.

While I live in Utah, my understanding is the Donner Summit area of California gets some pretty big snow storms dumping impressive snow totals. I've heard California snow referred to as "Sierra Cement" because the moisture content is much higher than the fluffy Utah powder but I'm curious how well a short-track Tucker performs after a major storm. Do you have enough flotation in deep powder?

Blackfoot, my dad is actually a fabricator and this turn table is wasted, busted welded, busted again and bent. Needs to be replaced. Not sure how it will do. I am a snowmobiler with a love for snow and the mountains. I just needed something to haul the family into my shack and try to spend time with my fam. Yeah our snow after a day or 2 really sets up so I am hoping it will travel well because it sets up. probly will not go as well right after or in a deep dumping of the sierra cement. Is it really a short track? I see it only has 4 bottom wheels and the others have 5 or more so I guess it is a short tracker. All I can do is give it a try and buy a winch and be prepared.

I'm sorry the turntable is in such bad shape. I'm pretty sure you could get a new one from Tucker, but the cost would probably be "substantial". One other place to try (in addition to Mtn-Track's suggestions) would be Cook's Equipment in Newport, VT (East Coast Tucker dealer).

The 1300 series Tuckers have the shortest tracks, 1500 series have mid-length (5 idler wheels) and 1600 and 1700 series machines have long tracks (6 idler wheels). Generally speaking, you see the short track machines mostly in the mid-west.

Well I ended up pulling the trigger and just building a new turn table. Will be done in a week once the fab shop is done laser cutting the plate. I left some meat in places I thought were week. The one I located I think would of worked but The price changed 400%, Long story!!!! I also located another set of tracks that are in a lot better condition than mine but must be for a 1500 series so I need to shorten them up. Now I have 4 spare tracks that would work if needed.
Does anyone know if the springs are trailer springs and what load range I would want? I have not been able to find a spring with a slot rather than a center pin. Might just burn a hole in the perch to be able to use a starndard spring.
Thanks

As far as the springs go, I would either call Bill Guthrie at Sno Trans for used parts or Tucker.

Jeff Godard was the Parts and Service manager and was a wealth of information. I understand he was promoted to a sales position but presumably his replacement has the knowledge as well. They should be able to give you the information you need as far as springs go.

Many companies are tight-lipped about their parts suppliers, but I've found Tucker to be quite helpful, especially with an older out-of-production machine. If necessary you could take out the "good" spring pack on the same turntable and take it to a spring shop. They should be able to fix you up.

Several months ago there was a thread (with pictures) on a Tucker 2742. The photos showed the beefed-up turntables. Here's a link: http://www.forumsforums.com/3_9/showthread.php?t=45989&highlight=tucker+2742&page=2

Good Luck.

Well I got the plate built and back in. after I put it in I noticed it was a little soft even though it was some special metal so I pulled it back out and T bared it. Back in and have now moved it. Got the leaf springs rebuilt, They are special springs thats for sure. Here are a few pics
