Nazi warplane lying off UK coast is intact

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110408/lf_nm_life/us_britain_warplane

A rare World War Two German bomber, shot down over the English Channel in 1940 and hidden for years by shifting sands at the bottom of the sea, is so well preserved a British museum wants to raise it.
The Dornier 17 -- thought to be world's last known example -- was hit as it took part in the Battle of Britain.

Thats neat, I wonder how intact it is, sometimes some of these finds are wonderful and sometimes they are falling apart.

If what the sonar is showing is the aircraft, it is completely rebuildable. They've pulled up worse than that, in pieces, and ended up with an airworthy vehicle.

Didnt someone start a thead about one that had been found in the ice at the north pole several years ago and they flew it out? National Geographic or something? Really interesting stuff anyway.

It was in Greenland. They spent two or three seasons rebuilding it and when they went to fly it out of there under it's own power, it caught fire and burned to the ground.

Thanks to you too Cowboy! This kind of stuff is so interesting to me. Too bad it went on fire like that after all that hard work restoring it.
