Natalie Wood's autopsy report raises questions

I've always liked Natie Wood. So now that the LA Sheriffs dept has reopened her case, I find it very interesting, even if it is 30 years late. Natalie Wood drowned in what was called an accidental drowning in her and Robert Wagner's yacht off of Catalina Island on November 29,1981.

Now that the case is reopened, the authorities have emphasized that Robert Wagner is not a suspect. Christopher Walken and the skipper of the boat were the other two folks on-board.

Some of the items that have been brought up that simply do not fit with the accidental drowning are that the boats dingy was found ashore with the oars still strapped in; appearing that is was never used and that Wood's body temperature was not consistent with what would be expected if someone had drowned hours before being found. It was more like someone who had been in the water for 1/2 hour to an hour. Also rigor mortis had not set in as it would have had she been in the water for hours.

All of this info is right there for all to see in the autopsy report. I had never seen an autopsy report before, so I found it interesting to say the least. I thought some of you might share my interest in this case.

Doc i have been following this as i have a Dr Sloan side to me:yum::yum::yum:

but after reading this piece is it just a waste of time investigating it now as the odds are justice will never be done if foul play was indeed the cause of her death???

Sources in the L.A. County District Attorney's Office are scratching their heads over the Natalie Wood death investigation, because they say there's no way the D.A. is going to prosecute Robert Wagner or anyone else.

Although the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. says Robert Wagner is not a suspect, it's pretty clear -- as the last person to see Natalie Wood alive -- he's the target of the probe.

Under California law, even if Wagner accidentally pushed Natalie into the dark water ... the most he could be charged with is involuntary manslaughter. But here's the problem -- there's a statute of limitations of 3 years for that crime, so prosecutors would have had to file charges 27 years ago. Ditto voluntary manslaughter, which has a statute of limitations of 3 years.

The only crime for which anyone could be prosecuted is first degree murder, because there's no statute of limitations. Remember, there are no possible witnesses other than Robert Wagner. Short of a bizarre confession, D.A. sources say there's no chance of a prosecution. BTW, there's a 6-year statute of limitations on second degree murder.

what i have quoted is this right in law terms???

No telling Doc and would be tough after 30 years. Now I heard a lot when it originally happened and most of that was rumors that were reported really. I didn't see anything about alcohol in the blood and it was rumored she had drank pretty much a half of bottle of wine at dinner that night. Another was some of her friends said she was terrified of deep dark water so who knows now. Other than the 3 men on the boat it would be pretty much a guess at this point.

I tend to think the captain's book coming out on the 30th anniversary of her death and local police seeing a chance for some publicity might be sparking the renewed interest also.

The autopsy report tells of an afternoon and evening of drinking.

Here are some pics of Natalie I found on the internet.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Other than a diversion, why drag up another long dead and forgotten Hollywood starlet's death other than as an attention getting diversion for the moronic public? Otherwise they may notice the scandals happening in the white house or insider trading in congress...

This is another non-news story meant to grab headlines and keep the masses amused.

Don't you people see this?

probable drowning in ocean....hmmm....i would have thought for a case to be closed there would have been words used in a more confirmed manner???

Doc i read about a neighbouring vessel heard screams around midnight???? you read anything on this?? if true why not taken more serious at the time???

lots of unanswered questions or are we all just thinking the worst of people???

lots to think over with very little hope of wagner going public with his side...and to be honest if he done naff all wrong then shit he must be suffering and it all seems kinda cruel.

When this first hit the headlines, it really made me angry to find out it was for the purpose of selling a book on the part of the Captain of The Splendour.
I have loved Natalie Wood since I was a kid.

We get depressed enough keeping our eye on the ball with all the trash in DC. We need some amusement along the way, that does not mean we forget or do not care about the happenings in DC.

I did not know about the book by the skipper. If this is all a publicity stunt for that, that would be sad. I would not think a sheriffs office would go along with that ...but it is in LA / Hollywood.

I also heard about the other boat in the vicinity hearing the screams and that those folks were not talked to about Woods death. Odd for sure.

This is what Wagners publicist has released. More at the link.

Robert Wagner said through his publicist Thursday that he supports a new investigation into the death of his wife, Natalie Wood.
"Although no one in the Wagner family has heard from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department about this matter, they fully support the efforts of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department," Wagner's spokesman, Alan Nierob, said in a statement.
Wagner trusts “they will evaluate whether any new information relating to the death of Natalie Wood Wagner is valid, and that it comes from a credible source or sources other than those simply trying to profit from the 30-year anniversary of her tragic death."
