Just Plinkin Away the $$
OK........Here's the deal......Stumbled across purebred (no papers) Golden Retriever pups for $125 each........Went to see them & he had 1 male & 1 female left........I wanted the male & got vetoed on that move, so as we're leaving with the female, the guy tells us the male is whining because he's alone (the last of 8 pups) & tells us to take the male too for free if we want him............& throws the 1/2 bag of puppy chow in on the deal.

(Damn !!)

On the way home I start thinking..........

So since the male is darker than the female, I came up with Rusty for him & Sandy for her. (that got vetoed too!)

I need names asap people !!

Zoie or Zoey is in the lead for the female...ugh !!...(not my choice)

How about some name calling please ???

(should be an easy task considering some of the recent posts lately ! )

No ideas on the names, but you will be very happy with the Golden's. Have never had a pup, we are on the second one that we received as an adult. They are great dogs.

Does Mrs. Tom have an interest where you can tie the names in?

My sister has been naming hers after states. That's worked pretty well. Montana and Dakota. My son when young struggled with Dakota so he called it Kubota (a word he already knew). That name has pretty much stuck as well.
 
congrats on the pups! wish i could get a dog. instead i have two cats that pee on my jeans. but as for names, my neighbor in my old neighborhood had a female golden named Schnapps. always loved that name. as for the boy dog... how bout rocky?

The poochs have a golden honey glow about. Would also describe their apparent sweet nature.

Besides , who ever heard of Honey with out the Bear?


The only down side is if that's how you refer to the Mrs....:hammer: (Honey that is)

Then again you guys could agree to call her something else....(the Mrs that is) :unsure:

No suggestions from me. Naming a dog is such a personal thing but I will mention that a friend picked up their second yellow lab puppy last Saturday. They picked up the first one 2 weeks before. He called to tell me that he'd decided to call the first one "Mr. Happy". I think he has a penis fixation. Thank goodness he called back last week to say that he had dropped the "Mr." and that it's just "Happy" now. Still no name for the second one but his wife gets to choose that one so it might be a "sensible" name, at least I'm hoping.
 
The results are in.........couldn't get them off "Zoey" for the girl. (I really tried !)

The boys name is "Hunter".

I like hunter for a name. Zoey is, well, kinda:gay:

I used to have a male retreiver. I named him Chester(short for winchester). I was training him to be a hunting dog till he decided to jump out of the back of the truck one day at 60mph on the highway. He was tied in but his clasp on his his colar broke so he got free and jumped. Sad day for me.
 
Tom...when in town today i come across a pet shop closing down...they have dog Collars Leather brown and black in color for Adult dogs and the price is stupid...£1 each...if you like i could pick up a couple and post them to you for when they have grown enough which wont be long.

No cost to you my Treat...when my son is back from walkies i will post a pic.

Galv........That would be awesome ! We got a couple little collars yesterday......Zoey got a blue one & the other is "Hunter" green ! (pun intended ! ) but I'm sure it won't be long till they out grow the little collars.

Now to hunt for an additional radio collar receiver for our invisible radio fence. We have one radio collar receiver left from our old springer that passed away last fall, but never thought that we'd need 2 radio collars.

These dogs are getting braver by the day & they try to get into everything !!

I'll post some more pics as they grow.

Hate to jump in yours and Tom's thread but I could use a couple collars. I'm more than willing to pay for them. I can use 2 brown ones.

You mentioned they come in Adult sizes. Do they come in a "wife, size 9"?

had a golden female named GOLDIE and a dark brown golden/lab mix named COCO still have the mix she is old hope she lives forever
