The One, The Only, Sushi
I just went over to see how much food is left for Fraiser Crane, my Fiddler crab of 2 years and he is dead :(:cry: His little eye stalks are slumped over and he isnt moving. :sad: I know he is just a stupid crab, but he was my crab. He was a cute little guy.
 
Well Paul, if this makes you feel any better..


Lifespan: 1.5 years
Care: Difficult

Seems like he lived a little longer than the average Fiddler Crab.

Thanks guys. I know its goofy to even have a crab for a pet. It DOES make me feel a LOT better knowing he lived a little over 2 years and its life span was so short. I got the guy for my fish tank and then I found out they are not meant to live permenantly submerged. So I made a little 10 gallon tank for him with sloped sand bottom with half underwater. Then I read up and put a few plants in there, with slightly brackish water. I made a little cave and then a rock house. I found him in his rock house dead. :(
 
Doesn't matter if he was "just a crab".. we become accustomed to things in our surroundings that are a constant.
Crab, dog, cat, fish, bird............. pets!
I shall refrain from going to Red Lobster for a month whilst grieving the loss of Mr. Crane.

Having a pet die is a sad situation. Even a lowly fiddler crab. Sorry for your loss, really.

I had a hermit crab as a little kid (the only thing I was allowed to have as a pet). Sad day when it died too.

awww, you took care of the little guy with lots of love :yum: It sounds like he just went to sleep in his little home and didn't wake up.
 
After this tragic news, Sush tells me in the wee hours of the morning that he FLUSHED the crab!
Not even a proper burial.. *sigh*...:toilet: :eek:

Actually Dave, he asked me what he was supposed to have done with the crab, instead of flushing it.
I told him the other option would have been to put on a pot to boil, eat crab, THEN give it a nice, umm personal bon voyage down the loo a few hours later.:brows::rolf2:

:( Poor crab. I honestly have to wonder what happens to crabs after death. Is there a place for crabs in the afterlife?

Sorry to hear about your loss...

I knew a guy years ago when I was in the Coast Guard that had Pet Crabs on the ship... The crew didn't think it was very funny though and the Doc hosed him down with powder and it pretty much killed them...

He was pretty bummed out too, not so much the rest of the crew though... Took us about a week to get all the bedding in berthing dusted to finsh the rest off....

Hope you aren't as down as he was....:ermm:

No Im probably not. I would be VERY pissed. Ya just dont mess with someones pet. Not unless its a danger to anyone. My tasty morsel lived a good life.
