Is it hot and humid in your location? If so, I have one very important tip for you. If you are sweating, don't let the rods rest on your bare arms. You will get a buzz. Also, if you find yourself in tight quarters, laying on your side and welding upside down, and you can't figure any other way to press the foot pedal except by using your knee, make sure you're wearing long pants. These are valuable tips. Don't ask me how I know...

Don's warnings are right there. I have one more for you. Don't be sitting on anything that is large enough for you to be welding or you will get shocked right up the ass if you are holding the rod in your bare hand. Trust me, I know from experience. It's just a good thing I was only welding sheet metal and not something very heavy with a lot of amps. The jolt went right through my work pants. Not just once, but twice. Then I put a board under my butt. I was sitting on a fuel tank on a Semi welding the back panel of the cab when this happened.
