My new Snow Trac

Roadkill

Member
I bit the bullet and just bought a snow trac. Its a snow master ST4B and was the unit that Lyndon sold to Cris Fox a handful of years ago which was from Glenallen AK, it is unit #1985 as i recall. This snow trac may have been the one that Don's dad sold back before Don hit puberty if i remember reading right. I think Cris Fox used to post here but i don't know what his username was. Anyways, the snow master is in what i'd consider good shape. The hood has been shimmed for additional cooling, there is a oil radiator w/fan installed, all the tires are foam filled, and it's got a nice set of HID fog lights installed. Talking to Cris, it seems he had this machine pretty well sorted for the drive to his cabin in the cascades, with a rebuilt engine and tranny, along with a lot of reconditioning of wheels, chains etc. I've got the original gas aux heater as well for it that i am planning on reinstalling, along with additional hid driving lights. It rained like hell on me from Eugene back to northern California, but the trip was an adventure. I think we've only got 3 snowcats in the county now.. one belonging to a recent member. Enough of the chatter, here are some recent pictures.

nice st that looks like the one lyndon recognised the name when i told the story we picked up 2 aa the auction one went to alexander lake undre a helicopter they are to wide to fit in a sky van and the other, which was yours was sold to a guy named clarance lamay at i believe gunsite mountain lodge up by glenallen clarance i believe was the one who cut down the tracks as they ran it in the fall for hunting trips across hard ground and the rutted roads and rocks up there boke the grousers up bad clarance had it stuck several times when crossing willow patches the snow supported on top would give way and drop high centering the snowmaster on the willow stands.it sounded like his help had been a bit hard on the rig during it's life out there i'm suprised you still have the espbacher heaater with it that was mounted right next to driver when we picked it up and on the black pat of the top down both sides it had the words snowmaster also looks like the old rotary beacon is missing off the back now good luck

Don,
I don't know if it is the same rig or not.. it is a shame your dad didn't write the serial number down somewhere. I know that the fellow who owned it a few years ago went through the machine from top to bottom. Evidently the life it had wasn't too hard as there weren't any field welds on the frame and the aluminum was in nice shape. Also the grousers don't look tore up at all. I don't know about them cutting the grousers on this machine. Looking at the grousers, it looks like the longer ones were just replaced with the shorter 3 band ones when the inner and outer bands were taken off. Anyways, for teledawg, I have a pict of the grousers. I only get a couple days a week where i have internet usually.

Tracks look a little loose......not sure from the picture a wide grouser would fit on there.....meisner you know what your clearance is???
