My heart melted when..........

Gone But Not Forgotten
I'm down here in this dark little dungeon reading all of the posts that we all come here to read, responding occasionally, when I hear a voice from upstairs call out....... "PaPaw, telephone....."
It's my beautiful little 4 year old Granddaughter on the phone.
"I missed you Papaw. Wanna know what I did today? I played outside at school on the swing and then drew some pictures. When I got home, I made some brownies. I love you, now, can I talk to Grandma?".
It's only been two days since I saw her, but she just had to tell Papaw what she did today. For those of you who have Grandchildren, cherish them. She sure puts a smile on this old guys face.

Ahhh that's special Jerry. I'm sure that would melt your heart. :D
Good post.

Awwwww That is SO sweet! The hardest part about having kids at Redneck and my age is that there aren't any Grandparents to charish them like that. I'm jealous for my kids :flowers:

I can tell you that as a father it is JUST as great to here your little one telling Papa about it. And mine will talk your ear off... wonder where she gets it... :confused2: After being gone for two days I could use of those calls myself.

I don't want anyone to take this the wrong way because I really enjoyed my kids but I really, really enjoy my grandkids. Perhaps it's something to do with them not coming home to my house every night. They're 4,000 miles away but I talked to all 4 of them today and every one of them had a different story to tell but every one of the conversations ended the same way ... "We love you grandad, kiss grandma for me". Every time I talk to them I end up with a tear in my eye. Do you think I'm getting sentimental and soft in my old age????

Yep, 'fraid so.
I can understand that. I don't know if I probably won't live long enough to see any grandkids grow up, but if/when we get any, I plan on spoiling the H&ll out of 'em, give them a bunch of chocolate with a Mountain Dew to wash it down with, then send 'em home!! Yep, paybacks to my kids.
