snowkat

Ive been lurking here for a while and I just purchased my first cat - A 1968 Spryte mdl 1200. It is missing the cab but seems to be in great shape the hour meter shows only 104 hrs.

Welcome aboard!

I'm guessing that if you intend to actually use that as a snowcat you will put a lid on it?:ermm:

Judging by the foliage in the background, it was used as a swamp-touring-cat?

Thank You. It came from Idaho/Wyoming - just a quick stop in Las Vegas to see about having a cab fabricated - unless anyone knows of or has one for sale.

Welcome and thanks for the photos. Interesting to see a topless snowcat. That's not something we usually see. I know the Royal British Commandos uses some topless Snow Tracs but they mounted WOMBAT (anti-tank) weapons on them. Yours has park benches in the back, I presume to take tourists/skiers up the mountain? Any idea what it was used for in that configuration?

Welcome to the Sno Cat world.

What are you planning on using the cat for?

It looks like a good start, be careful, these are very addicting.

WELCOME!:thumb:

Thanks for the welcome! I dont really know what this machine was used for - I think a tree fell on the original cab. I will be using this to travel to and from my cabin in Utah.

They made 2 different sets of tracks/ grousers for the sprite. Thoes are what we called dirt tracks. This style of grouser let the cat turn easier in the dirt.
If you look closely there are a couple of snow grousers on the track too

nice looking old cat i like the paddles added to the grousers
