Muskeg Tractor muffler

boondock

I have a 1969-vintage Muskeg Tractor with the 318 Chrysler industrial engine. The dual exhaust pipes exit upward & have a round can-shaped muffler, about 4" tall & 6" diameter. The mufflers have been welded & rewelded by the previous owner over the years & are now entirely rusted through.

Before I go through the exercise of fabricating a replacement exhaust, I wanted to check to see if anyone could suggest a suitable replacement muffler from some other application.

I have the same model. 1972 with 318. My mufflers are about 20 inches tall and have an offset inlet. The holes in the top of the engine shroud go around the muffler. About 6" diameter. I found the muffler by looking thru a book at Napa but I don't remember the number.

Hope this helps

that would be my suggestion get into a napa or walker book and look at muffler style ilet and outlett locations and size than you should be able to order one it you buy the premium quality muffler you will find it weighs more but will last longer than a universal type muffler

Im getting readdy to pull my Spryte into the shop for a new muffler and figured I would just hit up Napa foir a good quality long lasting muffler and then just bend the pipe myself witht he help of a friend and his welding shop .
