Muskeg Rebuild

Hello
I am getting ready to rebuild my Muskeg Track Rig. I plan on stripping it down completely and starting from the ground up. If the front differential needs parts were would I get these parts from? I think that I have water contamination and that their may be parts needed. Problem is the engine sits over the compartment hatch and I would have to remove the engine before I know that I have a problem. Looking for some Ideas and information on the whole rebuild thing..

Hi Thumper,
To get to the differential, you need to remove the radiator, etc., unbolt the front motor mounts and lift the front of the engine about 1 inch (hang a comealong from the roof of the cab) stick some wood blocks in the spaces in the motormounts for safety, then you can unbolt the cover to the diff, and get to the differential, which is heavy and awkward to remove. If you're going to do a major renovation, I'd consider removing the cab and motor first. I ended up doing that after all and it would have made things easier.

Definitely get a service manual and a parts manual for your specific machine. they will save you many hours and headaches. Boggy at Minnesota Outdoors or Prinoth (the manufacturer in Quebec) are both good for parts and advice.

Good luck!

You might try Alaska Machine for your parts here in Alaska. They are located at 1153 E. 74th st. in Anchorage. (907)349-7512. They rebuild oil field equipment like Nodwells, Foremost, Bombardiers etc. and have been around a long time.
