What Do You Do With Your Snow Cat When The Snow Is Gone?
You go out and play in the mud. I found this Tucker 1343 parked at a local hotel in Buffalo WY. This is the reason you never want to buy a snow cat used by a utility company. This one is owned by Great Plains Power and has been out playing in the mud and not the snow. It actually is in pretty good shape less the mud bath but has and is being used hard.
My criteria is as follows for purchase of a used snow cat for resale:
1: A snow cat owned by a phone company of some type as it has been used mostly on some type of snow covered road system to reach a cell/phone tower and is maintained in great shape. This is number one for consideration for possible purchase.
2. A private business or grooming organization that has maintained their snow cats and uses them to make money or provide services and does take the time and pride in their equipment. This is number two for consideration in purchasing.
3. Last is a utility type company that maintains power lines or gas pipelines and uses their snow cat no matter what the terrain and conditions dictate. These cats will be used and look like my pic below. This is the least desirable for purchase in my opinion.
Always look carefully at what you purchase and consider how it has been used and maintained. An on site inspection is almost a necessity.
