Most Americans Plan to Vote for Democrats

Do you think this poll is accurate?

  • Yes! AND OkeeDon will come back and taunt us after the elections!

    Votes: 3 15.0%
  • Maybe, I think people that take polls are truly representative.

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • I hope not. But I got a bad gut feeling.

    Votes: 4 20.0%
  • No way! Just another example of the biased media.

    Votes: 13 65.0%

  • Total voters
    20
I seriously doubt most people will vote for dems; but I am afraid there will be a lot of voter apathy in the fence rider voting block commonly known as the swing vote. I'm not seeing a lot of excitement about this election cycle and that will probably translate into an advantage for the left. Locally, I will be looking for the Libertarian candidates.

Our federal conservative party split into two separate parties. That was disastrous, as you can imagine. If alot of the Reps. are thinking "I'm conservative, but not neo-conservative" and start looking for another party, say, Libertarian, then the Republican vote will split. This will be far worse than losing (not loosing) the swing vote.

Lots of stuff going on in the world right now that will affect who votes for who. (or is it who votes for whom?)

NORTH KOREA - Democrats are blaming diplomacy of the Bush Administration for Korea having nuclear ambitions/arms but Kim Jong-Il is a certified nutcase and marches to his own beat. One thing is on record, this is a real issue and the Democrats have voted AGAINST a missle defense system since Reagan was the President. . . oh and Bush campaigned on developing missle defenses. The bigger this issue gets the more likely people will vote Republicans into office.

"PLAN COLUMBIA" is a little known effort that the Democrats are in lock-step opposition to and voted against. Columbia is the last real ally in South America we have, and "Plan Columbia" is due the credit for that. Without "Plan Columbia" narco-terrorists and Marxists would no rule Columbia, however the current democratic administration in Columbia enjoys wide and popular support by the people. We need Columbia as a political foil to Marxist Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.

MEXICO: Venezuela's Chavez's influence is also felt in Mexico. We have the potential for a new friend in Felipe Calderon who is the new president elect, and is center-right politically. Mexico is actually a political ally of the Bush administration if Calderon actually takes power, but there are issues. If Calderon doesn't succeed, Mexico will be an issue that can hurt both parties.

FUNDRAISING: Republicans are clearly waaaaaay ahead of Democrats in fundraising and most of the funds from Republicans come from small donations and individuals.
Democrats
  • Raised $215,000,000 through May 06
  • Spent $154,000.000 through May 06
  • Cash on Hand = $68,318,000
  • Current Debts = $1,166,000
Republicans
  • Raised $310,000,000 through May 06
  • Spent $245,000,000 through May 06
  • Cash on Hand = $83,353,000
  • Current Debts = 0
HOUSE & SENATE races are not looking as bad as some people might suggest. I actually don't see the House falling to the Democrats, but I do see the margin razor thin. The Senate will firmly remain Republican.

DOMESTIC ISSUE: lots of those that will go both ways, but the economy is actually doing quite well and most people are in pretty good shape, that generally favors incumbants.

Very true. This is why I will only vote Libertarian on the local level. That is where new parties have to start, with city councils, county commissions and state legislatures and even governors. For our federal legislature, I will continue to check the "R" candidates, even though they are actually "Democrat lite"; the lesser of two evils, if you will.

One bright spot for the GOP is that Republicans hold an advantage over Democrats on issues such as foreign policy and fighting terrorism _ 43 percent to 33 percent _ and a smaller edge on handling Iraq _ 36 percent to 32 percent.

Appears to me to be another biased story to try to bring the democrats together and say they can take control without any real factual basis. I would rely more on the world problems and terrorism, that will be more on the minds of the American voters when they go to the voting booth. Being well off or being dead, which one do you want?????

The economy and local problems will be a secondary issue with all of the problems in the world today. The GOP has the money and ability to direct the election toward world problems and away from the local scene. In this area the Democrats lack real credibility!!!!

Well I think the majority of us passed the sniff test on this one:

AP - Another Skewed Poll- 'Americans Want Democrats in Power'

Posted by Warner Todd Huston on July 14, 2006 - 15:14.Why anyone ever bothers using an AP/Ipsos poll result to "prove" anything is beyond me. It has been well documented by multiple sources that this France based polling company habitually over samples Democrats in their polls and this particular poll is no different.

But, here is the AP wire headline screaming that
"Americans want Democrats in Power" in their latest poll.

WASHINGTON - Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November. With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.

So, what was the sampling numbers for THIS one?

According to the AP/Ipsos site they over sampled Democrats...again.

Registered Voters polled:
Strongly Republican - 17
Moderately Republican - 25
Definitely independent or neither - 5
Moderately Democrat - 32
Strongly Democrat - 21
_____________
Total Republican - 41
Total Democrat - 53

Looks to me like they gave the Democrats a 12% advantage in the sampling. Yet the actual results resulted in only an 11% higher Democrat reading!

Wouldn't that be a 1% Republican gain? (hat tip
sweetness and light,)

Jut another ho-hum day in the MSM!
