Hey Don, you look great in your sons face.
The snow is not like sugar, now. In the early morning hours or late in the evening the snow must be harder. Nice pics & video from your place. I also see the holes in the skid plate, any major different in the heat?
The winter is still lives on the mountain in my place. (From 1450 until 2500 meters.)
Nice to see some of the ST4 in action. Mine is in the garage.

Regards Nikos

Good pics Don!!!! :thumb: Looks like fun.
How long does your snow catting season normally last? Guessing April will be the last of it until late fall.

the temp was around 15 degrees f which to most people it's cold but with the uv radiation it feels quite a bit warmer than it really is. also the sun penetrates the snow and melts it from the underside so it won't start to re freeze till after sun down last night temp came up to almost 30 and will likely do it again tonight so I winched the quad out of the snow bank

Hey Don, you better get a leash on Sarge. Not because Nome has a leash law or anything but for when the Bald Eagle sneaks in so you can make a kite out of him as it tries to fly away with it's dinner...:brows:

We had a black lab when we did a project out on Adak in the Aleutians that, if our dog hadn't been so big, it would have been a done deal a number of times... Every time we took him swimming, the eagles would circle him very close. Thankfully they obviously saw the rest of his body under the water and didn't lift his scalp.

How are you coming on the old Navy snow trac?

my worry's are out at camp this summer with the foxes wolfs and wolverines out there. we didn't have much of a problem with daisy she was fast as hell she just couldn't out run that school bus. on the plus side he seems to stay close to Tim as long he wants to play and the little boy seems to have plenty of energy.

Great pics. Good to spend time with him and let him be a boy. He will remember these as he grows up. Enjoy it while you can.

heck the kids are already wanting me to croak my oldest want's my Dodge, Timmy wants my jeep. the older boy wants my 6.2 diesel truck, and my guess there will be a fight over the snow trac .But yes they will all remember the back country rides in the jeep and snow trac. the funny thing is as a kid I worked at a lodge where we had an m38 a-1 jeep like my cj-5 , a snow trac and a Bombi. my fondest memory's at his age were riding around in a vw thing with my Dad on the old irrigation ditch trails in Oklahoma.

You bet Don.

My folks have been in Alaska since '58 (my dad says that's 7 rabbit cycles to see if folks know anything about Alaska :brows:). I remember going moose hunting and grayling fishing for many years with our old snow trac from year's past. I would sit on one fender, with the headlight between my knees, and one of my buddy's would be on the other fender. The headlight guard makes a perfect hand hold for a 10 year old. The snow trac always went just fast enough than the mosquitoes could fly.

One trip, the my dad and his buddies shot 3 big bulls and the old trusty snow trac pulled them all out of the woods in one trip. I remember we had an old green meat trailer with moose quarters all over the trailer and on the fenders. My dad called it his Alaska grocery cart.

That's good your kids want the snow trac. The best thing to do with these rigs is to get them out and use them. If they break, teach your kids how to fix them (that's half the fun). I fondly remember my dad handing me the grease gun before the hunting/fishing trips and then the water hose when we got back for digging all the thick muck from everywhere within the tracks.

Keep making those memories Don and we'll do the same.
