MN Supreme Court sets 'duty to retreat' precedent
The Minnesota Supreme Court reached a split decision that ruled a person who is claiming to act in self-defense has a duty to retreat before using or even displaying a deadly weapon when confronted with a threat.

I fu@&$ng give up
Nothing quite like telling the criminal element that they have castrated everyone’s god-given right to protect themselves and others.

The good news for the world is that only applies to Minnesota.

Several states have laws on their books that moot this. You may recall the media uproar a few years ago over the "Stand Your Ground" laws? All the predicted 'blood in the streets' never came true, but we now hear, from time to time, even in anti-gun cities like Chicago, positive stories about honest citizens protecting their lives and shooting thugs.

Those of us who don't live in duty to retreat states send our sympathies to the honest citizen/subjects of Minnesota.

If you're cornered you have no choice.

Fact is if ever faced with that horrible situation it changes nothing for me in my duty to self and family other than I will likely rot in prison for have done the right thing

I used a gun once. No shots fired. 3 gangsta types came from nowhere and we’re closing distance so a shiny .45 stopped the advance and they took off

Indiana doesn’t have a brandishing law

Self-Preservation may or may not be a God-Given-Right. But it is most certainly a right of every human being.

One may have only seconds to make a decision that will keep their lawyer busy contemplating, researching and arguing the case for years. Simply because they chose to remain alive. This helps no law-abiding citizen whatsoever.

But then this is Minnesota.
