“Today news sad news has arrived that Mikhail Kalashnikov has died after a lengthy illness,” a statement reportedly said.

Throughout his life, Kalashnikov defended designing the rifle.

“I invented it for the protection of the Motherland. I have no regrets and bear no responsibility for how politicians have used it,” he said, according to Russia Today.

However, he did express regret that the weapon often falls into the hands of undesirables.

“I’m proud of my invention, but I’m sad that it is used by terrorists,” he said reportedly once said.

Hate to see him go. But now Mikhail and John Moses Browning can sit around in Heaven (Hell?) and compare notes.

I heard they are going to bury him in a pit of mud, after a week they will exhume his body run a knotted up shoe lace dipped in diesel through him and he will be good to go!

I have to admit both of them invented guns based on KISS that lived up to it. Both guns took a minimum of tools and worked regardless.
