A Maryland man who dressed up as Batman to visit sick kids was struck by a car and killed after his batmobile-like black Lamborghini broke down on I-70 Sunday night.

Lenny B. Robinson, 51, was coming home from a car show when police said his Lamborghini had engine trouble, The Washington Post reported. Robinson got out of his car to inspect the vehicle when a truck hit the Lamborghini, which then hit Robinson.

The crash is still under investigation, but no charges have been filed yet, according to The Post.

Robinson achieved notoriety in 2012 when a video went viral of cops pulling him over in full Batman costume. The officers soon discovered Robinson was a Baltimore County businessman who dressed up as the Caped Crusader and went to hospitals visiting sick children.

“I’m just doing it for the kids,” he told The Post in 2012.

Robinson, who said he became interested in Batman through his son, Brandon, freely gave his time – but also a whole lot more.

He estimated that he lost 5 to 6 pounds in water weight while sweating inside the Batman suit, The Post reported. Robinson bought the suit for $5,000 and spent $25,000 a year on Batman memorabilia he signed – as Batman, of course – for the kids.

“Eventually, it sinks in and you become him,” Robinson told The Post. “It feels like I have a responsibility that’s beyond a normal person. And that responsibility is to be there for the kids, to be strong for them, and to make them smile as much as I can.”

This is really sad. This guy is one of those unsung heros of this world, he spent his time and his money to help hundreds, if not thousands of little children feel better when they were in the hospital. There have been many stories about him over the past few years, sorry to read this one.
