Lumens

A friend of mine has just built a new shed, he asked me how do you calculate how many lumens he will need. I have not the faintest, any one got a formula?

White or near white walls doesn't hurt either. I have 800 watts (half incandesant/half mini florescent) in 1200sqft; fine for getting a shovel or whatever, but for picking up a wrench not near enough - especially against the natural OSB color. For any wrenching I use a light "tree" with 4 60's and an additional 75watt on a flex-arm - else I'd probably want about double my current 2/3 density (I think that falls in accordance with one of the posts DaveNay linked, so may even be right!).

I think I found the answer, 2 watts per square foot seems to be the go give or take a bit.

Thanks fella's.:thumb:
