Lost my little buddy today

tiredretired

The Old Salt
My little buddy Sophie, our 13 year old Yorkie who was an absolute hoot to have around and would never have bit anyone even if they bit her first.

We would sit on the deck early in the morning, me enjoying my cup of coffee and she enjoying her breakfast.

She had a stroke while taking her to the groomers this morning. She lost all control of her legs and could not do any bowel movements.

We are devastated but no way could we let her suffer and unable to walk. I need time. Time wounds all heels as they say.

You need to always remember that you gave Sophie a wonderful life. She may have only been a small part of you life, but you were her entire life and need to take comfort in the fact that you gave the same devotion and love to her that she gave to you.

What Bob said.

My heart is with you, Butch.
I felt like my world was ending when I lost my Dachshund, Gretchen.
She lived to be 14.
The only comfort I got was from family and friends telling me I gave her the best life any dog could ever hope for.
I believe you did the same ❤️

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts and heartfelt condolences. It has been a hard day for us to say the least. We miss her bee line to the kitchen when the frig is opened or a chip bag is rustled or the barking at the farm truck as it heads up the hill. Just like all of your pets, she was a special girl for sure.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a dog does leave a huge hole in your heart and your life.

We lost both out dogs this year. The 13-year old died in January from a stroke. The 15-year old's liver and kidney function shut down in June and we delayed it as long as we could but had to have her put to sleep.

After almost 30-years we are now dogless. Oh my Lord, the house does seem empty. My wife and I are both 77-years old so a new puppy is out of the question. We have started talking lately about adopting an older dog but it is still early days.

So sorry to hear about your loss. We lost Thunder about the same age last year. Our old girl Marley is 12 going on 13. She's full of bumps all over her body and getting thinner by the day it seems. 5

I really thing dogs have souls, just like humans.

Two psychics, 20 years apart and in different states, said they saw the soul of a dog that followed me around. I never had a dog but my neighbor did when I was a kid. A few of us drove around on bicycles a lot and that dog loved to come along. He loved me. I honestly think that childhood dog is the one the psychics saw.

Tiredretired, I think you dog is still with you.
