Looking for some info on my 76 Tucker

wheeledtucker

New member
Hello! I am fairly new to these machines and was hoping to get a few questions answered. I had been searching for a tucker for since 2008 when I drove through Lake George NY and spotted one as a display in front of a restaurant, after seeing it I new I had to have one. I bid on this machine over the summer of 2020. I believe its a 1976, it has a 318 with a 5 speed.

When I got it home it barely ran enough to get it in the garage , so I started tinkering with it by putting an HEI distributer, full tune up, changed the fluids, Went with a one wire alternator, replaced leaking rear main seal and oil pan.

I drove this a bit last year and really enjoy it which comes to my first question. I have gotten in some tight spots with it, Now knowing it isn't ideal but should i be able to steer the tracks wile sitting still? I also just pulled it out of storage and The clutch was not working as it should, I narrowed it down to a bad slave cylinder. I pulled it a part and there is pitting in the bore so needs to be replaced. Would anyone happen to know the part number for the slave cylinder?

I am going to start replacing the belting on the rear tracks and was wondering what the measurements are between the grousers and over all length? I measured 5 15/16 between the grousers, I am not sure if there is any stretch in the belting I should figure in. I have also seen 4 belts per track and 2 wider belts per track and was curious in the pros and cons between the two options.

I am sure the purist cringe at the color and I can assure you it will be changed back to Omaha orange hopefully next summer. I like to get the bugs worked out before I drop a small fortune on paint. Thank you in advance for any information!

Welcome aboard, there is another green Tucker featured here. Lots of good Tucker folks here.
