Gone But Not Forgotten
Our daughter owns one and we have really become fans . I was wondering if anyone knew of any in your area and are willing to ship . I would like to get one for my wife as a surprize .

I think unless I can be sure it is safe the wife will wait a little while .This was discussed today . I promised her Dad the other night when we talked . Our daughter would look after her and her little dog would have a play mate .

Wait until you get back from Haiti.
No sense in jumping in with a new pet if you're not going to be there for it right off the bat.
I'd like to get a little brother or sister for Gretchen, but I wouldn't dream of it.
Why? Because right now I don't feel like I could housebreak another dog or take on another dog period.
Gretch came into my life at the perfect time, while I was still working part time and could be there for her.
A pet needs the owner there as much as possible, right from the get go.

Yes but only when I know its safe for her to join me . I promised her Dad I would check it out first before letting her come down . I either get her a pet Dashund or she wants Sean Connery . I like the idea of a dog better .

I am waiting now . That is the worst . Bag is packed and in the corner of the bedroom . I hope to go soon .Vaccinations are done and I am ready . It could be a while depending when they start rebuilding . I'll go when ever they call me .

I feel really bad... I read the thread title and though it was a recipe.

Sorry, but I never heard of this kind of dog. Is it a breed or a mix or ??? What are their attributes? Strengths (aka why are they desired)?

They are dachshunds Brian with different coat colours/patterns, and sometimes one eye will be a different colour than the other.
My friend Melissa bred them and they are gorgeous.

Good idea, I think Sean Connery is probably more ornery than a puppy. ;)

PG . Haiti has been in a S&R recovery until yesterday . That is not my area of expertise . I can do recovery and burial of decease and anything in construction . That is my area of expertise . I went ahead, paid for , and got all vaccinations based on the WHO reconmendations so I am ready .I will gladly pay my own way to get there and any cost to keep me there . I have applied with every agency I know of . I have no idea when I may be leaving other than I will go when needed . Right now Haiti is still trying to figure out where to put a 100,000 tents for temporary shelter . I spent this time studying the area , its people ,weather patterns , and building techinques . . I am open to any and all ideas to get me there ASAP .
