Cats have ripped up my old one and i have decided not to get it reupolstered. What's a good recliner - Lazy-boy? That's the only brand i can think of/

Lane makes recliners but I like the Lazy-Boy mechanism over the Lane.

Cat, the best way to find one is go look and ignore the names. If you are comfortable with it, it really don't matter who makes it.

I think our is an Ethan Allen but can't remember. It cost a fortune at the time and has held up for years. Whatever you look at make sure you flip it over and see if it has a good strong mechanism BOLTED to the wood. Screws are the cheap way to attach stuff and they do work loose over time.

I second getting rid of cats.

My last La-z-boy I bought I sat in all of them & specifically wanted a wall-away it slides forward then reclines. Most of the inventory was rocker styles which did not want. Finally found the right one & salesman INSISTED on getting a new one out of the warehouse in a box. Did not want to fool with a box so they kept the box on the dock. Anyways got the thing to a small temp apartment & the bottom cushion totally collapsed -- completely opposite of the firm one at the store sales floor. So disgusted never went back & still have it now in the farmhouse & people still have trouble getting out of it...

Be very careful on the La-z-Boy variable quality
