Looking for a new car

Well Gecko paid off on my 2003 KIA van which is about exactly what I paid for it today. I now have the rental car till Monday but need to find a good used car. Now I've not bought a car in years nor really kept up with anything since 1990 and kind feel into the KIA.

We have a check for just under $6000 so we are looking for anything dependable no more than 70K miles and decent gas mileage. We don't necessarily need another van but would like something with either all wheel or front wheel drive as my mustang just can't handle the snow.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and would like to avoid financing more than my down payment if at all possible. I really don't want a new car at this time.

A mid range 2000 to or 2006 Dodge/Chyrsler Minivan would fill the bill

Front wheel drive, great comfort, dependable and most get 20 MPG or better.
We have a 1999 Grand Caravan LE and get 21 MPG. It has all the bells and whistles, leather, stereo. Most dependable car I ever owned and has over 200K on the clock.

Very useful, more than any of the SUV or Crossovers. Lot's of room inside. Never been stuck.

I'd give $6K for another one in a heartbeat

Jeep has been building the Grand Cherokee since 199something and changed design and specs just only recently. I got a new Limited model in '99 for the wife and I like it just as much as she loves it. Dependable and really comfortable. Enough cargo space for most anything. Tows the boat fine. I've always serviced it well and it just turned over 165,000 with no major problems.

There's millions of 'em all the same design, so you could pick up a late 200something in your price range easy.

You might laugh but look at used Mazda 5. FWD, 4cyl mid 20's mpg, rear doors are sliders. Kind of a 2/3 size minivan.

I actually just looked at a Mazda but too many miles on it for me well over 100K.

My wife and I have decided against another van so that is out and will never own another jeep again. We are going to look at a 2008 Nissan Sentra 4 door loaded with 25,350 miles and 3 year warranty for $12,400. From a really high rated dealer in the area.

Thanks for the input guys.

Low milage is king. Sounds like that late model Nissan fits the bill and that 3 yr warranty is a plus. Better grab it.

Ain't it just like joec? He asks us to be on the lookout for a $6,000 utility vehicle, then goes off and finds a $12,000 sedan. WTF?

I took that as meaning he had $6,000 down and would finance another 6. :whistling:

Well if he was going to buy one that new at that price, it would be better to buy a new one with lower interest rates and most have a 100,000 mile
Warranty.

Well no problem with the financing as I now have several options so we will go with the lowest interest and looking at no more than 36 months or less. So I will hear back tomorrow by 11 AM on the Nissan and at that time if all is as expected I will probably close the deal on it. I test drove it and runs extremely quite and smooth with decent power for an automatic 2.0 L 4cyl engine.

I kinda thought you would be looking for a Humvee with .50 cal. ...just in case.:yum::yum:
