life.....

Rusty Shackleford

Automotive M.D.
its here one day and gone the next. you cant predict it or change it, no matter how hard you try. last night an extremely close friend of the family passed away from a heart attack. nobody saw it coming. i didnt know him, but from what ive been told, he was a very good man. he coached my brothers soccer team, and him and his family were always willing to lend a hand to their friends when in need. he was younger than my parents. i cant imagine the pain his wife, son, and family, as well as his family of friends, are going through. please, folks. do me a favor. hug the ones you love every chance you get, and never forget to tell them you love them. you never know when its going to be too late. dont let it be.

i have come to view folks on this forum as a big family from all over this great earth. and from the bottom of my heart i am grateful to have been included in the family.

My sympathies to his family and friends. Yep, Rusty life is like a real swift kick in the cojones at times. At others it goes good. Of course, the older you get, the more you get that 'this is gonna hurt' feeling.

My sympathies to his family and friends as well. Your post is one to ponder on. One thing I can add - is as I got older.. instead of waking up and saying OH SHIT I got to get up... Now It's GREAT! another day to live. Makes getting up a lot better.

Ah man. Some people go too soon and then the next old bastard seems to live forever.

My boyhood friend of over 40 years came home from work one day and sat down in his chair. His wife came through to tell him supper was ready and she thought that he had dozed off. He was stone cold, fucking dead at 51 years old. That had a profound effect on me and changed my whole outlook on life. I totally reassessed my priorities, stopped worrying about the little shit and retired shortly thereafter. I look on every morning that I awake and open my eyes as a bonus and I intend to enjoy every day as if it were my last because, you never know, it may be.

Rusty, my profound sympathies. It's the ones who are left behind who often suffer the most.

thanks for the words, folks.

Bill- he was right down the alley from my house at his limo garage when it happened. mom said he was there to pick up his car from being worked on and just out of the blue. i didnt know you knew him. Todd Grove, right?
