Liberal Commentator Bob Beckel claims Rape on College Campus is a MYTH?!?

Unbelievable. Talk about the War on Women. Bob Beckel holds forth that rape on college campuses is a myth and thus women need not carry guns.

Apparently the Left does not trust The Wimmens to be responsible? But as my family has been touring college campuses over the past year its painfully obvious to us that colleges have all sorts of problems. Every campus tour guide pointed out the "blue help pillars" that had cameras, emergency phones and promised a campus security guard within 60 seconds after the emergency button was depressed. While attending college classes last summer she was even issued a 'rape/assault' wistle by campus security ... they give them to boys too :brows:

Video is repugnant, but must be watched:

Beckel is not alone. Here is a freshman lawmaker from Colorado (Democratic state Rep. Joe Salazar). He said women should use a whistle or a call box not a gun to protect themselves from rape on college campuses.

Lawmaker apologizes for suggesting women fearful of rape should rely on whistle, not firearms

A freshman Colorado lawmaker apologized Monday for suggesting during debate on gun control that a woman concerned about being raped should not be trusted with a gun -- but should instead use a whistle or call box.

Democratic state Rep. Joe Salazar said while his contentious comments might have come out wrong, he is sensitive to women's concerns.

"I'm sorry if I offended anyone. That was absolutely not my intention," Salazar said in a statement to FOX31 in Denver. "We were having a public policy debate on whether or not guns makes people safer on campus. I don't believe they do. That was the point I was trying to make. If anyone thinks I'm not sensitive to the dangers women face, they're wrong."

Salazar made his controversial remarks during a debate on the House floor Friday over a concealed-weapons ban on college campuses. In arguing in favor of the proposal, Salazar, the father of two daughters, said women don’t need guns on college campuses to feel safe.

“It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, it’s why we have the whistles,” he said. “Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop … pop around at somebody.”

His remarks drew sharp criticism from female Republican lawmakers.

:yum: The sad part is he is serious. Call boxes, whistles and safe zones should protect these women. :yum: :bonk: I saw a rebuttal to his comments but cannot find it online. The lady said that there is a rape every 21 hours on a college campus in the US. We have had safe zones, call boxes and whistles for years and years yet there are still these rapes. How could the left explain that?

Beckel maintains that college kids get drunk and therefore are not responsible enough to pack a gun. This, coming from an ex-drunk.

I think Beckel is so fat from drinking all that koolaid and Juan Williams is just plain nuckin' futs!!

Beckel should confer with Rachel Madow who recently reported claims by college women tht20% of hem had been sexually assaulted at some point during their college years.

He needs to tell that to one of our local baptist Ministers whose daughter was date raped at a Baptist Seminary. It was the guys second "alleged" offense, no charges and he's still in school. I suppose they can't stand the bad publicity. Apart from the physical assault, the poor girl's mental state is a mess. The minister is a good friend and came out to our place because he just had to talk to somebody.

Remarks like Beckel's are just plain ignorant. If he had any experience of the trauma such an event creates, not only for the individual but for the whole family, he wouldn't be so flippant with his remarks. Rape is one of those offenses that should carry a far stiffer sentence than it does.

What would you do if somebody date raped/raped your daughter or grand daughter?

Maby it is because I have daughters but I feel rape should be punishable by death...peroid.....
with the tests we have now it can proved or disproved fairly quick.......and here is where I get into trouble.....I also think that the false acusation of a rape should be punishable by death also.....

as to beckel..........well there isnt enough room on this page.......:hammer:

Beckel shows his ass on The Five on a regular basis, and just repeats the party lines...same for Juan Williams, the lefty's lefty. Can't remember if Beckel ever produced an original idea on the show.

Beckel and Williams are just BO's pet parrots. Colmes tries to talk over whoever he argues with and Heraldo tries to ease to center but you can tell it pains him to do it.

Let me translate that into Standard English:

"You can't be trusted with a gun. You're just a female after all and might get all, you know, jumpy like, and start shooting
at just anybody because, you silly thing, you start just imagining that people are after you. Take this whistle" (Pats
girl on head.)
"There, don't you feel all better now?"

Freaking moron! :hammer: It occurs to me that the old kings in Europe may have had a good idea with the doctrine of
Fool Killing. :w00t2:

Ill second that!!!!!!

Student raped 50 feet from police station in "SAFE ZONE"

Recently, Obama’s website sent out an e-mail soliciting people’s “gun violence” stories and reasons they support gun control. You probably won’t see any stories there about how guns were used to defend someone or save someone’s life. Those stories won’t be allowed. They only allow stories from people who were victims of gun violence and who support more gun control laws.
Of course, according to Colorado state representative Paul Rosenthal, there are plenty of other methods of self-defense that don’t involve the use of a firearm. Mace, tasers, Judo and even the “buddy system” can be used to protect yourself from a murderer or rapist.
And another Colorado state representative Joe Salazar said that just because a woman feels like she might be raped doesn’t mean that she will be. In other words, it might not be “legitimate”rape. And a paranoid female student wouldn’t want to accidently kill someone who wasn’t actually going to rape her. And this is why female students shouldn’t be carrying guns on campus, and this is why, he said, we have “call boxes, safe zones and whistles.”
What would these gunophobic lawmakers say to [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t5BTl6m7Kk&"]Amanda Collins[/ame], a student at the University of Nevada who was raped at gunpoint in a gun-free “safe zone” about 50 feet away from the campus police, whose office was closed at the time she was raped? She even had a concealed carry permit, but because of state law, she was forbidden to carry on campus.
She was on her way to her car in the parking garage with a group of friends, but her car was the only one on the ground floor. The rapist was crouched behind a truck, and when she passed by, he came from behind, grabbed her and raped her at gunpoint on the garage floor.

The rapist went on to rape 2 other women and murdered his 3rd victim. Only at that point was Amanda allowed to carry a gun with her on campus. But that 2nd Amendment right would be revoked the moment she told anyone about her carrying. No one else was to know that she was allowed to protect herself with a firearm.
If she had had a firearm on her that night, she likely could have protected herself, the next victim and saved the life of the 3rd victim. Amanda [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t5BTl6m7Kk&"]noted[/ame] that none of the suggestions by the liberal lawmakers would have made any difference:
“I can tell you that a call box above my head while I was straddled on the parking garage floor being brutally raped wouldn’t have helped me one bit. The safe zones? Well I was in a safe zone and my attacker didn’t care.”
And not only that, she holds a 2nd degree black belt in taekwondo, which in some instances might help her, but in this case, a much bigger man holding a gun rendered her martial arts skills irrelevant. She needed something to match the criminal’s gun. And the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy (or gal) with a gun.

Franc, see my post above (#10) where I translate Salazar's Ridiculously Retched Rhetoric back into actual English. I'm
not female but even so I am deeply offended by his remarks and ashamed to be a member of the same gender. How do total
imbeciles such as this ever get elected?

Duhhhh...by OTHER imbeciles, of course. :yum: Oh, and let's not forget the wagon riders who want to keep the money faucet flowing by their fellow thief.
