The Samba is a great website for finding anything VW (air cooled) related.

I encourage anyone with any of the air cooled VW vehicles to frequent the website. They have a large trading and classified area and lots of people there who can answer just about any obscure question about a VW that you can think of! Great knowledge base.

For those interested, here is the ad:
1961 Kristi Snowcat, VW Powered Price: 4500
This was built around 1961 In Colorado. It has a hydraulic suspension and is able to traverse sidehills while staying level. The engine is a 1600cc that was adapted in replacing the old VW 40 hp. It was rebuilt and running great and everything worked but it has sat for about 10 years. The engine is either seized or the trans has water in it and it is frozen (I have two more transmissions). I also have parts from two more of these that have been parted out. You can read all about them at kristisnowcatdotcom. There are photos of it on the site, KT2A Serial #00085. It is missing the dash, should be easy to replace because it is a flat fiberglass piece with SW gauges and the luggage rack is gone too. A guy bought it ten years ago and wanted me to send him some stuff off it. He never finished paying and it has sat since. The interior looks good too but is very old now. This one should be an easy fix mechanically but still needs cosmetics. It will drive on just about anything and go anywhere. I am including a picture of a restored on i saw up by Yellowstone. It is not the one i am selling it is just so you can see what they look like with the Hyd suspension pumped up.

Hey..... I wonder if they would make a good drag for snowmobile trails? They have to be good at "something"! Hey I know, a Portable out house. A kids ride like the ones you see at the old grocery stores.
