Komatsu PC228-3US - started then stopped now nothing

Hi,
Hoping to get some assistance with this. Started the excavator and after about 1 second it stopped. Hour meter sometimes displays and lights on dash / computer sometimes come on. Then got the key stuck in the barrel, wouldn't move. Ordered new barrel, replaced and lights and hour meter came on initially, then went off and nothing since. 2 new batteries in the last couple of months and have checked all of the fuses within the cabin. Any other suggestions please, it's going to cost an excavator to get an auto electrician out to our place. Thanks in advance.
 
I don't have a Komatsu but when I encounter similar issues, more often than not, it's the battery cables. They get corroded inside (not visible) and can carry volts but not the amps needed. I run a set a jumper cables in parallel to the battery cables then give it a try. If it starts, I just replace the battery cables.

Can't say if the ignition switch may be the culprit.
 
Better head to a Heavy Equipment / Komatsu site ,somebody else has probably been down the same road as you .They can point you in right direction to pull some codes out of that EMMS system Komatsu uses .
