Kerosene Prices ?

Cowboy

Wait for it.
Does anyone here know WTF Kero prices are so friggen high & how much is everyone else paying for it .

Its $7.15 a gallon in bulk here IF you can even find somplace that has it And in my opinion it aint K1 when it has the red dye in it & sure as hell dont burn as clean as the clear stuff . I can get Prepacked 2 1/2 gallon jugs at the ace hardware which also has the dye in it for 51 bucks but they are out as well .

Now I aint real good at math but thats a perty good jump in price for a friggen plastic jug :hammer: Anyone else running into the same problem ? Thanks

Holy Crap!!! I had no idea it was that high. I have plenty so I haven't been watching the prices but I'm thinking I paid under or around $3.00 per gallon.

I had no idea on the price per gallon. But didn't we have an article here or did I read one some place that said it was going to skyrocket? Seven bucks a gallon is insane.

I just bought Kero for 4.00 a gallon. It is, however red.

Is not the red dye required by law for road use tax purposes?

Red dye or clear...is there a difference? Yes. Without a doubt. Red dye kerosene is usually delivered in bulk quantities by a fuel oil supplier, and is known in the trade as #1 stove oil. Clear 1-K kerosene in bulk quantities is very difficult to find in most areas, AND it often costs at least a dollar a gallon more than red dye #1 stove oil (kerosene).

If you are using kerosene only for lamps, clear 1-K kerosene can be purchased in hardware stores for $4 or more per gallon -- and you will not be using enough of it to make much of a difference in cost. The clear will burn cleaner in lamps, and the wicks will last a little longer, but

51/2.5=20.4. At $20.40 per gallon did they kiss you before or after?

Thanks Adillo303 , thats what I,m trying to find out , Where abouts are you located ? I,ve heard others say in the last few months that they could still get it much cheaper . I dont understand why its higher in my area though but its been that way the last few years .

Nope Lobo they were out of it , I cant imagine who the hell boughtem out though :w00t2: I,ve paid as much as 12 bucks a gallon before , but I sure as hell aint going to pay that much again . If I have to I,ll burn diesel but I sure dont care for the fumes .

I mainly use it to bring the temps up real quick for doing fiberglass work & painting so a wood burner would defeat my purpose as well because of the fumes .

try this aviation jet-a is the same as kerosine and #1 stove oil with no dye jet-a goes through 1 more filtration process so it is nice and clear if you buy it ensure you dont have the additive prist mixed with it as it will fowel some styles of heaters but for gun type heaters like a boiler it won't matter i would find it hard to believe that jet cos's more than 7 bucks per gallon out here in bush ak it's selling for 5.50 per gallon bulk

i think what you are seeing is artificial inflation to keep people from using it in older diesels to get away from the new ulsd from what i've been researching is that the new #1 ulsd actualy has a higher cold filter plug point because some of the goodies that are stripped during the refining process help keep the wax from forming in the fuel plus those of us swith older engines don't want to run the stuff and wear out parts sooner i could see how famers could be the same way also jet -a was selling for much less this summer so most bot owners wanted to run the cheaper fuel it adds up at 10000 gallons at a shot.

Yep very well could be Don , Makes sense . Thanks for the added info

Was $2.49 a gallon for clear till October. Today it is $3.09. Expect all fuel prices to drop shortly at least on the east coast as they bring the big refinery in Delaware back online next week.
