J5 Bombardier

Does anyone know what type of fuel pump is in the tank of a J5? I have a 1973 with a chrslyer 251 gas engine. It either has a leaky tank or burns a lot of fuel! Anyone else have a similar issue. I put 5 gallons of gas in it today and only ran it for about 1hr total. This was stop and loading logs and doing short hauls. Does not seem right to me.

On a normal J5 there is no fuel pump in the tank it is on the engine and mechanical drive. Check your air filter to see if it is plugged. Also check your oil
To make sure your fuel pump diaphragm is not letting get into the block

I had the same issue but it ended up being a cracked gaz tank. Took it to a shop and for $350, they repaired the 3 cracks and sealed the interior of the tank with some red goo and garanteed it for 10 years. My SW-48 will run about 5-6 hours on a jerry can (5 gallons). If you smell gaz in the cab, look for the leak on the bottom edges of your tank.
