It's time to say Goodbye once again

OhioTC18

Gone But Not Forgotten
Some of you may remember I had to lay my female cat to rest last year.
Well now it's time to say Goodbye to my male cat. I know dogs are very special to a lot of people here, but cats carve their footprints into your heart too. Bubba, my little big guy is now 16 years old. He is slightly responsive, but not able to move much. Nor will he eat or drink. He cannot stand at all. He just falls over. We wanted to wait a few days to see if there was any improvement. But there hasn't been any. I think it's time.
We rescued his little butt from a shelter. He was the last of the litter and I know why. He was so vocal. For 16 years I've listened to him sit in the window and howl. I think he was just calling his Mother Ship to come back and get him :yum:
He has been a great companion for all of these years, either curling up on top of the blankets or underneath them if he was cold.

So, tomorrow, if Mother Nature hasn't taken him tonight, we will see the vet. He is old and had a great life. I know tomorrow will be hard, just as it was with Bitsy, the female, but he doesn't need to suffer, if he is.

Tough for sure Jerry. Good pics. He was a good looking cat for sure.
It's never easy but you have to do what you have to do. Best wishes. You'll be in my thoughts.

I can relate as I own 4 one being 19 years old but still functioning. I wasn't a cat man until just recently when a pair of litter mate Manx stole my heart followed but a stray Russian Blue that showed up a year ago.

Not a cat guy but I am a sucker for dogs. Either way, they seem to be more a part of our lives than we intend. Been there and done that. Good luck, keep your chin up...

Pets are so much like family. I'm so sorry to hear this news. I genuinely know what you are feeling and going through. I grew up with dogs for pets.. and just recently got a cat for the first time.
I never knew cats where so special. They sure do have a way of there own to get a special place in your heart. You have given that cat a great life.. and for that you have earned a star in heaven.

You've got some great remembrances in those pictures, visit them often. Bless the family Jerry!

i know how yoou feel my lab just clicked over to 12 same day as i advanced another year as big dog's don't generaly live much past 15 i'm starting to get ready for that day too

Sorry Jerry :(
16 yrs old? He had long life with you and the family, and I am sure you have a lot of treasured memories over the years spent with him in the mix.
Let him go gently into that good night, and allow the hurt to not linger for long.
You're an animal lover, so know that you were a rockin' cat Daddy.
Peace, my friend.

Bubba went naturally in the middle of the night. We laid him to rest this morning beside Bitsy. It was much easier than having to make that short drive to the vet.
Thanks everyone for the thoughts and comments.

Now I have to find a way to tell Emilee. They were buddies.

I'm truly sorry to hear this news. You seem to have given him a long, comfortable, and loving life.

I guess I don't have to. My son called Emilee to let her know. She called tonight and said " I'm sorry Bubba died. How did he die?" Grandma told her that he was real old and he went to sleep and wanted to be with Bitsy in heaven, so God made it happen.

RIP Kitty.

We still miss ours.
We buried her under her favorite tree.

One can tell a person's worth in many ways, one of those ways is by the way that they treat animals... you're good people Ohio. I am so sorry for your loss.

At some point after we have taken them in to our homes, our pets become part of our hearts. It is never easy to loose one, but rest assured that they are in heaven waiting for us to get there.

You and the family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am really sorry to hear this, my cat just turned 17 and she is not doing that well either. But, they have had an amazing long life and they have a had a big part on us.

Jerry, I'm sorry to hear about Bubba. I know that you and Phyl both loved your Kitties. I would always laugh thinking about Phyl and she would get so worried about the hair on my pants from them and Buddy.:yum:

I know exactly what you are going through. I had a Siberian Husky when I lived at home. Only had him about a year or so when Monica and I got married. Because where we were moving was all mud and the fact that Dad got attached to Takota, I "lost custody" of him. He stayed there at Mom and Dad's house for the past 10 years. I would visit and go play with him when was there. Well, this year Dad has been pretty sick and it has become apparent, that Dad wasn't going to be able to care for Takota or my sister's Bassett. I decided I was going to bring Takota home (and my sister asked me to bring Buford too). I got a couple of kennels set up for them about 2 weeks ago. Last Tuesday night Takota was in his house (strange considering how hot it was). I couldn't get him to come out - but he would aknowledge me. Did get him to drink some water. Wednesday, breathing was slower and more eratic. Wednesday evening we were all out with him when he took his last breath. Didn't like the seat time on the tractor that night.

Sorry to hear that Jim. No one ever enjoys that type of tractor work at all. I know I dread thinking about the day Buddy goes. You know he has been sick in the past. It will eventually take him. But for now, he is doing pretty well.
