Just about everyone who uses popular social media apps like Facebook and Instagram can tell you an anecdote about advertisements popping into their feeds that are so acutely targeted to them it’s like the apps are listening to their conversations. Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has called it a ‘conspiracy theory’ that the app accesses the microphone on a person’s phone to listen to conversations and, in turn, target news feeds with related ads. But it happens so often to people that it gives even the least conspiracy-minded pause, people like WWL-TV Photojournalist Adam Copus.

Face book are liars. FB does indeed listen to what your saying when your phone is not on and open.....

Yep, it seems lots of them listen one way or another. Tests have shown that even with mic turned off and or phone turned off it still listens somehow. Whatever is doing it never goes to sleep. Tests results were shown by kurt the cyber guy a year or so ago.

Perhaps this explains why ATT "FORCED" me to get a new phone. After years of enticements, which I rejected, they simply turned my perfectly adequate flip phone off.

I did receive a new flip phone in the mail to have set up. A rather inconvenient episode at their store just for the convenience of doing Captain Kirk impressions.

I flipped them the bird.
Whilst it might be possible, I doubt they saw it. Or cared.

ATT sent my wife a free phone after I refused to buy a new one. Seems the old phones worked off of a 3g phone system, even though you may have had a 4 g or even 5 g phone. Now the 3g part of the system is being turned off.
At least that's what they told me when I went in asking about the free phone sent to me.

Yes, your phone listens to you.
Mrs Zoom & I were driving down to FL a few months ago. I was carrying so when we approached the SC State line, I told her I have to pull over and put the pistol in the back. She asked why and I told her that SC doesn't have concealed carry reciprocity with our State.
Her iPhone was sitting between us and within 5 minutes, it was popping up all kinds of links about concealed carry reciprocity. Those 3 words (concealed carry reciprocity) were never, ever mentioned on that phone until that conversation 5 minutes ago.

Yeah, that's what they told me as well. My point was they didn't make it possible to use the old phones. Happened before when they shut down analog Cell phones.

Funny but the new digitals didn't operate any different. Somehow they managed to keep them simple. And relatively private and secure.

However the Gubmit and Big Tech wanted to listen in so,,,,,
