Is my dog a wussy?

muleman

Gone But Not Forgotten
Seems the bird has taken a liking to the dog's bones and hoofs. He hops down off his stand onto the dog's sofa and they all bail out. It is comical to see a 3lb. bird intimidate the jack russels and a 90 pound shepherd.:yum:

Naw.. your dog is ok. The dog knows he is better than the bird. And can sit back and share. :yum:

I'm sorry - your dog's a wussy. My now deceased Lab/Weimaraner once caught and killed a crow and ate most of it. This was when he was 12-13 years old and had a bad rear leg.

Actually, I think your dogs are just smart enough to realize that that tasty little snack has some mean SOB watching over it. ;)

i got a lab and a springer that are afraid of freaking rabbits.....we say the lab rides the mini-bus...if there is a creature that doesn't get it more than this one...it is an omeba....lmao...he is still a member of the family tho..Bill w

Our dog is a wuss too. He gets along with the cat but won't go near the cat when it's eating. The cat will purposely go drink out of his water dish while he is eating. He gets scared and tucks his tail and runs for the bedroom. He's also scared of his own bark which is why I've only heard him bark 5 times since we got him last July. Seriously, he'll bark, then tuck his tail looking around for the dog that made that sound. I do believe his previous owners abused him though. When I go to get undressed at night for bed, as soon as I reach for my belt to take it off, he tucks tail and runs for the bedroom. He's a big teddy bear and we love him just the same.

I guess my dog is a terror based on what you guys write.

Misha, my current Akita will tear apart rabbits, opossums and raccoons at every chance, and has done so on several occasions. She also bloodied up my sister in laws dogs a couple times. She is friendly to people IF they are let into my home, but is defensive of the home against all other strangers, both 2 and 4 legged.

Ed & Steve, my past 2 Akitas were very much the same. IF you were let into the house you were treated like family, but anything that is not supposed to be on THEIR property or in THEIR house, well that is just a target of opportunity.

After a couple years I wised up and have the 'dog yard' fenced in (120 by 60 feet) with the trees from the woods trimmed back far enough that critters in the woods can't drop over the top of the fence into the dog yard. I once saw Steve pull a raccoon out of an overhanging branch and kill it before I could get out the door to stop it. People often say that a raccoon can tear up a large dog, my experiences with 3 Akitas is that that is simply untrue, at least for this breed. They can kill and gut an adult raccoon in pretty short order.

Not sure how they would handle a cockatoo? Maybe there is something intimidating about the Don King hairdoo on those birds :bb:
