I'd check the "Ease of Access" Control Panel for the "High Contrast" setting.
Or there's something wrong like a bad driver, bug, fried hardware, or a virus.

Found the problem, and the answer.
If you right click, go to 'graphic options' which has a pull out link, then rotation, you can flip your screen. To return to regular, click normal.
Somehow the 180 rotation on his had got turned on. (he has two small children in the house)
