Imp and Snowtrac videos

Thanks for the excellent videos. It will make the other FF members more aware of the capabilities of the little Imp. I owned one and know that it is still one of the neatest small snow cats for personal use ever made.

I would assume that you were not only breaking trail for Larry in his Snotrac, but also towing your load, his Snotrac and load....:yum: Is that correct Larry????:poke:

As a matter of fact the deal was I had to have the imp in front of me ,so that when it broke down I would'nt run off and leave him behind. And I had to pull the drag so the trail would be nice and smooth so the limp imp would maybe make it home. I Hate pulling heavy limp things on a rough trail.:smileywac

Each trip out and back if we don't do detours, is about 80 miles, so I just use the Imp for a bunch of trips. Larry has a bunch of snowtrac's because they can only do the trip ... FINELY, though! He did get an Imp so he can have some dependibility....:yum::respect:

So you live in the outback in Alaska what part ? Thats something my wife and I would love to do. So what does the imp get for fuel mileage? are parts hard to find?
Rob

We live in interior Alaska, by a town called Nenana which is about sixty miles South of Fairbanks. Town itself has only about 375 people in the city proper.

It takes me about fourteen gallons of gas to get the 80 miles round trip in the Imp. Normally I am running with a full load one way or dragging a load of lumber or something else. Only doing about ten miles an hour if I am not in a hurry, best was about 16 with marginal snow, but unless there is a lot of snow, the trail just beats you to death. Could go a lot faster, but the wear and tear isn't worth it.

Normally if we need quicker trips out, I take the snow machine which is a better ride at the faster speeds. That takes about four gallons and takes about two hours which is an easy ride.

Here is some more photos of the Imp and Larry's Snowtrac if I did this right....:pat:

I really like your louvered grill. Is the action cable controlled? What did you use to make it and would you show some closeups?

The grill is factory, I will get some photos of it. It has a pull/push cable control, I assume that it was designed for the really colder climates and it works very well at -20 and colder. Stripped the paint off a couple of years ago after going though the whole unit, never did get around to painting it, may do that in a few weeks...

No, the tracks are the orginal 32" wide tracks, will get some photos, but am getting ready to tear it apart to install the new springs and do a complete check out for this winter. Maybe I will even get around to putting the paint back on...

FOGTENDER Nice IMP! Did you widen the tracks? Nice rig. Can you post some pictures of it inside and out? Thanks!

Real nice pictures Mark! I really like the one of the nice trail that Larry's snowtrac made for you to run on.:poke: This year you can pull the drag and I'll take the pic!!:boobies:

Yeah, that would be ok this year, you should have enough parts laying along the trail that fell off your rigs, you can find your way there without having to follow me now....:shitHitFan: :yum:

Hey are you going to run your imp on trail this year?I missed your imp prints last year (did'nt have any thing to laugh at):yum: This year I can make my own wimpy impy prints! Say maybe I should put some spare snowtrac parts on the imp (so it will run better)What do ya think??? Make me a wimpy impy trac!!!!:17875: :thumb:

You must mean put snow trac parts into the imp after they fall off. You can do this as the imp tows you back home while you are retracing your tracks looking for all the parts. :yum: :yum: :yum:

Re: po-go the pumkin

:moon: :yum: I can just see it now! limping down the trail in my wimpy impy trac picking up spare snowtrac parts so I CAN MAKE IT HOME!:yum: I sure hope the imp is as good as all you guys seem to think they are, I will find out as soon as we get more snow.(if we ever do) so far I like the way the imp turns(sharper than a snowtrac will) but the ride has a lot to be desired it is like rideing a po-go stick with tracks on it. I have a lot of work to do on po-go the pumpkin before it is ready to go on trail.:smileywac need more snow:snow2_smi:

:snow2_smi: They are lots of fun if you have lots of snow to run them in,but they can be real rough with little or no snow to cusion the ride, still fun no matter what.I am hopeing for more snow!!!!!:snow2_smi:

Yeah, it was fun, problem was I wasn't driving "My" Imp, I was letting Larry drive it so he could see how the "Superior" it was in handling over his snotrac when I was running the camera.... guess that is why he went out and bought his pumpkin:thumb:

But now he has seen the light, even if it is orange.....:applause:
