Well we had an ice storm last night. US41 is closed. Rt 2 is closed. Those are the nearest main roads. Completely iced over, a few phone calls indicate that the L.E.O. are directing people go stay home, have the semi-trucks pulled off the road, and are stopping all traffic in some areas.

And my wife gave me a long "honey do" list of things to do so we can leave for our trip tomorrow. Including taking the dogs to the boarding kennel and a few other essentials.

So I'm stuck at home, and the family wants to play CLUE. I hate CLUE.

Any way to get out? And what the heck do you folks do when you are snowed/iced into your homes?

Its ICE. It came down and crusted over the snow. The roads were clear before the ice, now they are as slick as a hockey rink. The only way to get about would be with chains or studded tires. I don't have either, not sure if they are even legal here.

We were right on the line of that ice storm, but it just missed us.
Getting out isn't much of a problem.
The city is good about salting the hell out of the streets and surrounding roads.
When I've been snowed/iced in, I bake.. watch old movies, or hang out online (surprise).
CLUE sucks.

Before the internet when we were snowed in and our kids were still at home we would play board games.
Our most popular ones were Aggravation, Sorry and Monopoly. Or we'd play Uno (card game). If we had 4 teens / adults available we'd play Euchre or Bridge.
Good luck dealing with the ice Bob, and getting out of town as planned.

We have been snowed in for two weeks.
We also lost power. I borrowed my wife’s laptop. Ran the battery down being on FF.
I took my heavy APC and walked two blocks and my friend had power, he charged it up for me. I recharged her laptop battery and my wife was still griping her head off. We finally got TV back this afternoon. We are thawing out, yea.
OH: A APC is a thingy with a battery inside and it converts to household current when a computer is plugged into it. Works slick. My next idea was to plug the frig into the thing if needed. Don't know if it would of ran the frig? Anyone know. It's a 300 watt.
Then stay away from your wife/girlfriend to save your hearing.

Let's see, you sound depressed, have firearms at home, and are getting desperate. How about giving the mailman a scare?:bonk:

Well despite the claim that neither rain, snow, blah blah blah will stop the mail, we didn't get mail in our neighborhood today.

I did finally get out. Took 45 minutes to go 7 miles. Didn't quite make all the stops that I wanted to make, but I did get all the things done that needed to be accomplished.

Christmas day whenever I would find myself having too much "family time" I would put on shoes and go outside to chip ice with a square point shovel.
felt pretty silly Friday morning after the chinook, when it all melted anyway, but it may have saved a life or 2, so I don't mind the exercise...

It's 73 degrees and sunny right now in my part of Indiana. I think I'm gonna break out a couple of Jet Skis and go have some fun! :thumb:
