I am talking with a few friends over drinks and dinner when one begins telling me about how he has been out of work for over six months.
I asked what he did for a living and he told me he was an audio engineer.
I run my own business and he asked if I had any work for him, I replied that I did not explaining that what I did was more like a one man operation, but that I would be willing to teach it to him which would increase his possibilities of finding a longer lasting job.
He asked what did it pay :glare:
I explained that I was not going to pay him while I taught him quality engineering, but that I would teach him for free.
He turned down the offer :ermm:
He is out of work, with very few prospects, meanwhile I have clients who are constantly asking me if I know any quality engineers or quality inspectors looking for work, go figure.
I could teach him everything he needed to know in one week,
I guess he likes being unemployed.

AMBITION......or lack of it. I was never without work if I wanted to work. There is always something to do that will be a lot better than a big blank unemployment time on a job application.

Kudo's to you for trying Tweeker. :flowers: Just a guess but he is more then likely drawing UE and looking for a cash job so it dont screw up his benefits, that seems to be the norm these days. :ermm:

That is sad. What a dufas. Hopefully he does not have a family and kids he is supposed to be supporting.

You did your part and that was very generous of you. He needs to re-evaluate, but only he can come to that point.

When I was in the trade I constantly took advantage of all the free courses and seminars at the union hall to learn more about my trade. I had to give up sunny weekends or evenings to do it but it was always worth it in the long run. I feel because of that I was never laid off long enough to draw UC. Before the one week waiting period was up, the phone was jingling. It's all about priorities and ones outlook on life and what they do for a living. Like I said, your friend needs to re-evaluate.

I'll bet that if I offered to train him and only charge him $5,000.00
He would jump at the offer.
Too bad for me that I just can't take advantage of someone like that. :yum:
