I thought the Repubs were screwed, but Howard Dean is becoming our best friend.

You really have to love Howard Dean. Here is a guy who ran a terribly unsuccessful and shrill left wing campaign for the Democratic Presidential primary. The former liberal Vermont Governor can't seem manage to help the Democrats and I really am considering getting a big "THANK YOU" card and circulating it among my friends to send off to the Democratic National Committee for electing Mr. Dean as their Chairman.

This guy can't seem to put a respectible face on when he appears in public on behalf of the Democrats. Last week Dean appeared on "MEET THE PRESS" and falsely accused the chairman of the Maryland GOP of calling him an anti-Semite. He sidestepped inquiries about Democrat's racial slurs agains Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R), who is going to run for the Senate in 06.

A few weeks earlier Dean appeared on "HARDBALL with Chris Matthews" where Matthews berated him for refusing to answer whether the Democratic Party is the pro-choice party on abortion.

But absolutely the best reason to be in love with Howard Dean is his fund raising ability for the Democrats.
Currently, as reported by the WASHINGTON POST, it appears that the Republicans (RNC) has a five-to-one margin in cash-on-hand over the Democrats (DNC) and further, the DNC has only raised 1/2 the money raised by the RNC.

This year the Republicans are not doing well, but it looks like the Dems inability to raise money may be the biggest factor in why they may fail to succeed in a time when the President is posting horrible approval rating numbers.

Gotta love the guy. Congressman Kucinich is approaching his level as well.

Speaking of Democrats being out of touch, did you guys follow this story? I was reminded of it by a friend and thought it should be added to the general insanity of Howard Dean and the other nutty Democrats.

A US Marine asked Congresswoman Jeane Shmidt to read an email on the house floor...and read it she did. One phrase in the email was: "Cowards cut and run. Marines never do." While the good congressperson was reading the email she began to be booed by Democratic members of Congress.

I wonder if those people realize that when scores of Democrats booed and hissed they were actually booing the words of a US Marine?

They can talk about supporting "the soldiers" but their actions tell a whole different story.

Hey, I never said I could spell her name correctly. But yes, she is the one who stood up and read the email letter from the US Marine, and yes, while she was reading it some of the Democrats were booing and hissing at her.

She deserves common courtesy and the Marines deserve our respect. I am not a supporter of the war in Iraq, but I do support our folks over there, and I do believe that we should give them respect. Booing their words in the halls of the capital is simply rude, and perhaps stupid. I also suspect that the majority of the nation would find it offensive, as do I.

This is how I knew Bob before ForumForum. We both had coworkers and neighbors over there and Bob very generously supported them.

Just seems to me the Democrats, especially under the Howard Dean leadership, are thumbing their noses at America.

I totally understand the logic for going into Afghanistan. I still question the logic of Iraq. But the one thing I would never do is repeat the idiocy of the liberals when our soldiers came back from Viet Nam. I was too young to serve in that war, but I was old enough to see how those soldiers were treated when they came home. They didn't set the policy, they just did what they were supposed to do.

But now we have politicians who are heckeling our soldiers on the floor of congress. We have an entire political party that offers no solutions but is willing to criticize every move. Things are really wrong in this country and I suggest that the Democrats really need to pull their heads out of their asses because they obviously cannot see the harm they are causing to the fabric of our society by their lunatic actions.

Actions like that border on treason in my book. I remember what it was like during Viet Nam. Weren't many of us that wanted to be there, and the pieces of garbage you had to put up with in your own country, sort of made you wonder at times if you really wanted to be here either. Many of us just retreated back into our ranks, and didn't have much to do with the general populace. That's one reason I would up with 8 1/2 years in there. 4 in the regulars, and 4 1/2 in the Reserves.

My father in law is a "true Vermonter", all his life, still there, and not going anywhere.

His words on Dean are "he's a carpetbagger from New York City":D

I sure am hearing a lot of whistling in the dark. Gotta love it; sounds like you guys are running scared and have to resort to name calling in order to reassure yourselves. Makes me feel a lot better about the future...

Born in Maine, spent time in Mass and N.H, up until I met my wife, only a couple of times kayaking on the border in Vermont to "upstate N.Y".

Since married, spending more time in upstate Vermont. Knew about Vermont gun laws pertaining to conceal carry and thought the state "can't be that bad".

Well, after spending time "up there", seems like Vermont is "pretty screwed up".

State is VERY liberal, which I find very surprising (I guess other than my father in law).

My FIL blames New York city and all the "carpet baggers" (including Dean) who's "philosophy" has "change the state".

My FIL isn't "well educated", spent time in the Navy, then 30 years working as a cable/telephone repair man (hauling transformers up a telephone pole in places where you can't get a truck, in the middle of nowhere in DEEP snow). But, he is a good man, can fix anything and doesn't say that much most of the time (when he does talk, I've learned to listen, he's forgotten more than I'll probably ever learn). Point is he thinks the "state of Vermont" is going to hell in a handbag. Only reason why he and my MIL still stays up there is because his mother is in a rest home, and he can't bear to leave her. Tells you somthing about him.

Reading the local newspapers up in Vermont, you have to wonder. Teachers "having rights" after being convicted of molestation, drug use is "god almighty high", and seems that a lot of "immigrants" "love" the state due to all the "subsidizing" (sp?) by the state.

Long story short, after reading the newspapers, thought to myself "these people have GOT TO BE crazy for "putting up with all this". No way would I want to live there.

Becoming a "dam yankee" here in N.C, I have to wonder, seems all the republicans moved south and all the "liberals" moved up north.

Heck, even in my "home state" in Pa (where I graduated high school and then went to college after a period of time, and yes, PENN STATE IS BACK in football) has Rendell (sp?) as govenor.

I guess why I'm "perplex" is I always thought that the "New England" states was where we as a nation declared our independence. That people have rights and we shouldn't have to be told what to do.

Seems like it's a "sin" to actually say "I believe in god", pledge to the flag and you ALWAYS have to watch what you say for fear of a lawsuit or offending someone.

Actually, thinking about it, have to get a "Bush" sticker (and no, I don't always agree with whats going on in the oval office at this time) to put on my car and drive around up in Burlington this week just to "tick people off" up there (or maybe and NRA sticker):D

Ok, rant mode off:smileywac
