I need a pressure washer

I don't need anything fancy, just something to do the siding on the house ,the deck , etc . I also really don't want another engine to maintain . So, I'm thinking about an electric . But, first, and foremost,it has to be reliable over the long haul . Any recommendations ? Thanks , John

I have a little Karcher electric that has served me well. 1300psi, and that is plenty of pressure for my uses (house, deck, tractor & ATV's etc....

I got it at Lowes on sale. If I wanted another electric I wouldn't hesitate on buying another one.

Your lucky Doc, two of my friends have since gone to gas cause their electrics lasted less than 2 years.

I bought the 'cheapest' one I could find with a good horizontal shaft motor. It's a 5 hp Honda powered unit from Home Depot. Nothing fancy and I think it's 1200 psi (Been a while, so I'm not sure).

It was like $399 or something.

Thanks folks. Looks like I need to start looking at gas powered washers .
Any tips as to what to look for ,or avoid ? I really don't want to spend a ton of bucks . But I also don't want to throw away money on something that's cheaply made ,only to be disappointed with it .

I started with a Karcher electric. It ran great but just wasn't big enough at times. I did the same as Av8r3400, I bought a gas model from Home Depot with a Honda 6 hp. Had it 5 years now and it is still working fine.

I bought a refurbished gas one with a Honda GVC160 (?) engine from a Cummins Tool Sale two years ago for $199. Other than the flat tire it has it has worked fine.

Look for the Honda engine. They seem pretty reliable.

What's as (if not more) important than PSI is GPM.

The best thing I've found for making it last is to always think of the impeller. Always assure it's got water. Also, never let the pump freeze...
