I have New Holland but wife is looking at Kubota

Gone But Not Forgotten
Yes, I have a blue tractor and the wife is looking at a Kubota.......Kubota Dealer that is. One of her friends in a CPA firm called the other day and let her know about a tractor dealer looking for a bookkeeper.

That's all Phyl has ever done until 2 years ago. The firm she worked was going under, slowly but surely. Then they started doing things she was not comfortable with putting her name on. Let's just say, when the Feds and State catch up with what they're doing, they won't be open much longer.

She left there and decided to open a website selling childrens clothing. Things have slowed down a bit and she's been looking for a part time job to help fill in. Then this phone call came. The next day she was told to call the owner and see what happens. As soon as she told me what his name was, I knew the dealership. It's a small family place outside of town. The son has been running it since Dad and Mom passed. They are struggling in this economy, but who isn't?

Anyway, she called and he answered, "Hello, this is Timmy." I thought that says alot about him. They talked for an hour. She couldn't believe how far behind the times they are. All payroll and and inventory is done by hand. He couldn't really understand what all she has done in an office because he's a tractor mechanic  . They are closed next week to give their employees time with their families. But he wants her to come in for an interview on Monday. And if all goes well, she will start on Jan 3. Phyl is so excited. It's a few more hours a week than she wanted, but in time things will be caught up and she will probably spend less time per day there.

The previous bookkeeper had been there for 28 years. Also says a lot to me.

Jerry that sounds like really good news. Especially during the Holidays. I sure hope you don't leave us blue guys and switch to orange though???

When she told him I had shopped his place and went with another brand, he said well we'll just have to upgrade him in the future.

NOT !!!!! I like my Blue Tractor.

Phyl interviewed with the owner, Timmy, for almost 2 hours today. He was overwhelmed with her experience and how easy she felt it would be to get them into this century with the accounting program they already own.

She starts her job at the Orange dealer on January 3rd
:clap::clap:

Some things he will never be comfortable with getting computerized. We did not realize he is in his 70's. He is set in his ways in some respects.

She'll keep her internet business going, it takes so little of her time now.

Congrats to you and Phyl Jerry.

I DO see Orange in your future. One day they'll make you a deal you just can't say no to. :yum: LOL

:yum: I kinda doubt it. I know my tractor is a small one, but I can't think of one time I wished it were larger. Besides in the same HP range the Orange tractor had these little bitty baby buggy front tires and they cost more.

Sorry, missed this thread earlier.

Congrats Plyllis. I know that you will make a good bookkeeper for the tractor dealer. Bet that sure did make the holidays a little merrier didn't it Jerry. Now, can you afford for her to work there? Between you buying toys for you, her spoiling the granddaughter now that she "is making money again," you may end up in the poor house.:whistling::yum:

Thanks everybody. Her first 3 days have been great.
The company is so laid back it's funny. There are only 4 employees, err make that 5. The owners wife gets a check, but hasn't been to the office yet :whistling: It will take her a bit to get used to the way they do things, or don't do things. They just don't like computers at all. Their inventory is on file cards. It's just a 60 year old farm equipment/tractor dealer.

I doubt if I'll be buying too many toys there, I have what I need for a while.
