I hate wood

The only thing trees are good for is making fires...

Wood is the debil!

If we can put a man on the moon, why cant we figure out a way to weld wood?

Glue? sure it's kinda like welding... if you are used to your welds taking 25 minutes to "set"

splinters.. I've had a million metal shavings in all parts of my body, ain't none like a piece of wood under the fingernail.

Did I ever tell you I hate wood?

Ya got a dado a little tight? no prob, hit it wit teh hammer...Oh, now you got "pecker tracks" or 2 pcs of wood... with steel...you need a bigger hammer:rock: and you be stylin'.

have I mentioned that I hate wood... Kill trees...kill, kill...burn, fire

OK in all fainess to the wood of the world...

I will admit I used cheap tools and cheap wood... and I'm sure the results would be happier with better stuff...

I hate wood

Heres a teaser of what I'm working on... new shelves for the "man cave". not sure why the photo sucks, I wonder if my cameras on the fritz too.

Glad to see/hear you love working with wood. :hide: :yum:

Too bad you're not about 2000 miles closer. I've just disassembled 3 sets of shelves identical to what you're building.

When you're all done with them, check with a shoe store. They have the exact same shelves and I'll bet if you inquired at 3-4 stores, you'll find one that has some extras they're trying to give away (like boxes at the liquor store).

I like wood. Only just learning the evils of steel. Much rather sawdust in my ears than blasting sand.....

What you gonna put on them short shelves :confused2: Spray paint cans won't fit .... can't wad up many power tools and stuff them in there :confused2:

Special purpose for bin boxes... 5" high for bolts/nuts mostly, but small parts too... look for updates when I get 'em finished, and figure out why my camera isn't taking a decent photo.

Are you talking shelves or shoeboxes for free? I got boxes...

Shelves.

And if you're really lucky, some places have steel ones. (the tan thing in the middle of the wall).

The only good thing that I ever got out of a shoe store was shoes. I did get some very nice chairs from a Thom McCann store that had closed. It was before I built my house, or I would have taken the ladder and tracks that it rolled on for my garage. The store was built in the 1960's when they still used mostly oak and everything was in very good condition. I also wish that I had taken one of those chairs that you put your foot on when the salesman was fitting you for a shoe. I think that it would have been a great conversation piece in the living room. My problem is that my wife doesn't appreciate my sense of recycling, the way that I do. She won't allow me to have a dump permit any longer, since I would always come home with more than I took to the dump.

What's a dump permit? Around here I think every other house must have one!

OK I got some of these shelves up and kinda loaded.. still needs organizing, but you get the idea. first pic shows the dado detail how the shelves attach to the verticals. shelves and verts are 3/4 ply and the back is 1/2 ply. I will be building several more of these in the coming months.

Isn't it amazing how organised some people can be?!!!

I was just thinking the same thing....... Eric, are you coming to Atlanta any time soon?:cool2: My shop could use some organization....:pat:

Would someone tell Big Dog that we need something like that setup for our basement? We have nuts, bolts, nails, screws, pins, and other misc. small stuff all over the place down there but it always takes us forever to find stuff once he gets ripping and tearing down there....
