Wisconsin Father, Daughter Die in Ice Skate Attempt
The 6 year old is left behind. No mention but I expect a spouse as well.

It's a no-brainer that I'm going in the water (or whatever the peril) after my kids in such a situation but I hate to hear when neither make it out.

That is sad. Way to often it's two people that drown, one trying to save the other. Even knowing this, I'm afraid in the same situation I'd do theh same thing. you have to try to save them. So sad.
